Golo Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 That is correct. Only OFF, AUTO, MAN, EMER, OVER are shown. 1
Tomcatter87 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) Can confirm. If I set the wings to bomb mode, the indicator shows "Auto". The wings do sweep into bombing position, though. near_blind Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Showing AUTO instead of MAN is a bug and has been reported.
Callsign JoNay Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Is it a bug? Bomb mode still automatically sweeps the wings between 55-68 degrees. Maybe it's supposed to be that way?
near_blind Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 null The wording isn't exactly clear for what is displayed when the auto schedule sweeps past 55 degrees, but it should definitely show MAN before that. 1
draconus Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/general.html#wing-sweep-system Quote The pilot can also select a wing position aft of the wing-sweep program manually or choose the BOMB mode that sets the wings to 55° or further aft depending on the program. Golo Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 According to NATOPS manual, if you switch to bomb with wings fwd of 55° they will drive to 55° and indication will change to MAN. If the aircraft speed up so that CADC will program wings aft of 55°, indication changes to AUTO (tho mode will still be in BOMB). After slowing down wing will move again to 55° and and stay there and indication will again show MAN.
RustBelt Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Wait, is the wing sweep switch not momentary for Bomb Mode? It’s like a toggle switch?
sLYFa Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 AFAIK the wingsweep hat sticks in either bomb or auto but will return to center from either aft or fwd 1 i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD

Actually its in the preliminary flight manual, I could have sworn its in the actual NATOPS manual, but maybe I misremembering that. This is the paragraph: Anyway I dont see why it would behave differently than in manual mode. In manual mode when you sweep wing away from CADC commanded position it shows MAN, and when CADC program intercepts the wing position (or wings CACD position) it switches back to AUTO. Logically same should be for BOMB mode, when wings are away from CADC commanded position it should show MAN, otherwise AUTO. Well, at least that is how I interpret the system.
