Victorious1 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi guys, I'm thinking about investing in a TrackIR 4 setup but before I do I want to get some opinions and find out if the system is worth the money or not. Sometimes gadgets look good in ads but when you go to actually use them they turn out to be junk. Does anyone have experience with the TrackIR 4 that they can share.
Boberro Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) TrackIR is good you can buy it without worrying about its work. You will be happy and game enjoyable will go up much too! Many folks use it - so it can be proof about it can't be junk. There are also another solutions, example FreeTrack, DIY device to simulate same as TrackIR and it also is good solution, but it needs little patience and desire. Ready device's price is much cheaper and functionality same in LO or almost. Edited January 5, 2009 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... Kula66 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Absolutely worth it ... next to a HOTAS. So good you wonder how you ever managed without it! 5/5.

Prophet Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I would almost venture to say I would prefer flying with TIR than a HOTAS.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Best money I ever spent on something for my PC. Flying with a TrackIR compared to using a hatswitch is awesome. Took me a couple of weeks to get used to it and tweak the profile to how I wanted it, but then one day I was using it without realising it. It felt so natural..... I agree with Prophet, I'd rather lose the X52 than the TIR. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Ironhand Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 RUN!!! Don't walk to your nearest dealer and buy one. It greatly increases the immersion factor, once you have it tweaked to match your head movement. SVK_Fox Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 TRACK IR? you have to have it, after few hours of using it you will love it and you cant play withou it. 1
basscadets rriatt Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 i cant believe what a stupid question, no offence. my god is it worth it :P [sIGPIC]http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o477/basscadet-2008/ScreenShot_023copy-1.jpg[/sIGPIC]
RvEYoda Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 like many said, id rather play without HOTAS than without trackir . It IS THAT important :) S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
Kuky Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It is well worth the money... buy it and you will never regret it. Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 No question. I cannot imagine flying in a simulation without TrackIR. The only thing is, it will take you a few hours-days to get used to it. At first, you'll have to learn to keep you head nice and steady... but once you get over that hump, it's almost like looking around in a real cockpit.
franx Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I got TrackIR 4 two years ago, but had a CRT monitor and lots of trouble finding a way to position the TrackIR adequately, so I neglected it. Just recently I switched to an LCD, began using the TrackIR more seriously -- and everything about the simming experience is now more enjoyable and immersive. It's definitely worth the money. TrackIR is simply terrific, and it works especially well with LOMAC. aka MadMonk; Windows 10, 64 bit, Radeon 6800XT gpu, Ryzen 5 5600 cpu, 32 gig ram; Samsung 2TB EVO SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and stick, Saitek combat rudder pedals; Oculus Rift.
3Sqn_Sven Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 As others have posted, I would loose my throttle before I lost the track ir. You cannot be seriously competative in lock on without it. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
