Geoman Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I bought this module via current Christmas sale. Boy what a thrill! This thing feels like a sportwagon compared to the Hornet (which I love none the lesser). I very much like the canopy reflections, and the black out, red out and g-loc effects are so uncanny on spot - in VR I this module gives me the chills! Thank to the developers - why didn't I try this one earlier? The last time I "flew" the Viper was in 1998 or so via "Falcon 4.0". Now I'm inside it! 10 AMD TR2950X, RTX 3090, 64 GB RAM, Reverb G2, HOTAS Warthog & Saitek Combat Rudder Padels
DukeAngus Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 i have the same experience except i bought the hornet. they are very different planes and they both have abilities that they are awesome at! Ps be very stingy with the afterburner or you will find yourself bingo real quick. on the plus side with altitude and 200 knots you can go amazingly far! 1
TobiasA Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Optimum mach is about 0.7 to 0.8 in most configurations. You can hang around for hours if you are gentle on the throttle. The Viper is awesome. Started in 1999 with the same sim back in those days and loved it ever since. 2
durka-durka Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 I transitioned from the 18 to the 16 a little over a year ago, not for any valid reasons except for that I wanted to do more Air Forcey stuff. I didn't really appreciate the airframe as much back then, but have grown to absolutely love the module. My ADHD loves the colored MFDs. 1 492nd Squadron CO (F-15E): JTF-111 - Discord Link

You don't really have to be, just fly higher. It also helps to target a certain speed. Use Max AB for acceleration and then use a lower AB setting for supersonic cruise when you reach your desired speed. 2 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
LOW_Hitman Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I love that plane too - crazy, fast, what pleasure to fly with it. Only negative thing is the performance in VR. It's terrible and a fps killer compared to the f18. 1 i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

My favorite is to full AB burn to the tanker, fill up, go on mission. If not, get to altitude and relax and enjoy the ride. Fuel issues aren't as bad in the Viper as people think. 1
AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Yea, I just got it on these sales too, I first flew the aircraft a couple of months ago with the free trial program, and I just felt in love with it, the handle, the looks, the mastercraft of the module itself... very nice. The Hornet was my main aircrat for the last two years, very different beast, cant wait to start going deep with the viper for now on!!! 1
=617= Evil Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 The Viper is like a drug. The more I fly it the more I want to fly it. Started off in the Hornet and was kind of 'meh' on it; the systems just never made sense. (Though getting shot off the boat is a blast) Then got the Viper and it just clicked. Every new system I learned made sense, and you just keep peeling back layers of its capabilities. Absolutely fantastic module that I can't recommend highly enough. I still dabble with the Hornet, A10, A4, etc., but after a short amount of time I'm just like 'Ok that was fun, but I miss the Viper'. Loading into that cockpit is like putting on a comfy pair of shoes. 4 In Thrust We Trust.
BuzzLine Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 The proper soundtrack for any Viper fan is provided by Dos Gringos (caution: often explicit lyrics). 1

Kayos Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Yep, best DCS module so far. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
