$24 for F-15E. True or software glitch?

Recommended Posts

I gathered those that got the F-15E for $24 get to keep it at that price. I thought it was a software glitch on ED website which was later rectified because I saw the $24 and thought this has to be a mistake. Later when I tried again, website was down.

Was that really a software issue or a kind of reward for the early birds?

$24 is a big steal if that is true.

The preorder gives 24$ in savings, so they probably accidentally input the 30% discount as the price.

It would be a very sneaky way to crash the servers if they did it on purpose.

Isn't it the law that you have to honour the price and you can't just cancel and refund the customer?

Correct. It was 30% of full price not -30% discount. Someone made a mistake according me, so the page of store was withdrawn temporarily.

Probably Elon ;).

It's not quite that simple.

First, there's no law that covers all of Earth for that, so which country did the transaction take place in? The country with the button pusher, or the country with the server that actually did the transaction? Let's assume it's agreed that the country of the button pusher gets to use their rules, and that country has such a law. Now what? Are you going to the International Court to get your $25.00 back? Are you going to file a small claims case against ED? And when no one shows up to argue for $25.00 and the judge rules in your favour, again, now what? That covers step 1 of 50... and all the way down the chain, "now what?" comes into play, for $25.00...

And before we even get to step one, has there been any suggestion anywhere at any time by any person with any kind of authority, that ED is not going to honor that price for those that got it? Not that I've heard.

I'm not updating this anymore. It's safe to assume I have all the stuff, and the stuff for the stuff too. 🙂

The European law is that you have to honour it if it would be reasonable for a customer to believe that it's correct. So if a $500 item is on sale at 10% off for $4.50 you don't have to honour it. It's obviously a mistake.

Is it reasonable to think that a module on pre-order is 70% off? Debatable. If they stated $80 with 30% off = $24 then people would be able to see that it's a mistake.

Interesting. Thank  you.

Not exactly the same thing, but if you scan an item here and the price comes up wrong, you get $10 off or if the item costs less than $10, you get it for free.

Purely for interest/histories sake, I'm curious how long the wrong price was up? 30 minutes, 10, 5, an hour? It'll be a cool little fact one day about the F15E preorder.

As I mentioned in another topic that ED is very generous to give away.

It was like 5mins tops. Very quickly a) they fixed the price and b) the site started struggling under the load. So I don't imagine many people got in at that price, but only ED will know.

A lot of people were waiting for this presale, I bet that the vast majority did not even pay attention to this strangely low price. They just rushed to buy - like me. By mistake, a relatively quick reaction and changes on the website and a massive attack on the purchase - the servers got terribly clogged. So it's not really like people jumped at $24, they just jumped at the F-15E 😄 I bought it at the "normal" price even though I saw the lower one.

Someone actually got the bird for 24$? I wasn't actually planning to buy this module now (actually, I haven't purchased it), but I saw it so cheap that I tried to buy it. After a few tries got to bring the item to the card, but the price in the card was 56$, although the price in the e-shop was 24. I think that the price never was actually wrong in the E-shop, only the advertisement of the price.

Yes, "some" group of people really succeeded. I know two such people personally. Unfortunately, I failed 😉 But I'm not broken because of it 😉 If it was for 100% of the price, I'd buy it too right away.

The price was definitely displayed wrong in the shop and people definitely got it at the at the wrong price. Trust me 🙂

But it was only like it for a very short time......

I've been eagerly awaiting the F15E since 2013 and when someone posted a screenshot of it being $24 I thought it was a meme.

Picking up the module for $24 is probably my greatest DCS achievement ever 🙂 (also makes up for my loss with the Hawk lol)

ill probably make a custom skin with a $24 price tag on the tail haha
