LtFransky Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 That makes sense that it is a missile warning controller. Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die. A man walks into a zoo. The only animal in the entire zoo is a dog. It's a shitzu
uhoh7 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) hehe, the bottom line is we are flying a prototype which never did and never will see any combat besides a few stafing runs against hungry insurgents. The good news is that ED was as faithfull as we could ever expect. RWR? Not needed in this sim. The peak of realism in DCS is the copter (that's the most important) As to our targets, they are more simple. Take the Abrahms, mister 2 vikhr. Well maybe these missles cannot penetrate the armor, but they certainly could disable one. So the DM on the tank is primitive, but the end result might not be so far out of reality. The trees? Well we can't hide behind them, but the manpads are more aviodable than in RL. What I say is don't upgrade the manpad code unless you let us hide in the trees. It's an imperfect world, but at least ED is giving us what we want most: a functional cockpit, a good FM, and a world to fly it in that is interesting, dangerous but not impossible. As to the mystery switch--god knows all the little tweaks the few existing KA-50's have had. Good find though. ARM505 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Ha ha, 'Bolted' to the HUD, at least you (EB1) also saw the blatant use of what looks like duct tape as a bit of a quick solution to stick that thing to the HUD! :D
airea Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 See the quality in craftmanship of the cockpit? Even home-made, entertaintment-purpose pits have a higher level of build quality then the actual Ka-50:) But I guess that is a general problem in Russian aircrafts...
Skydiver Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Love the leather trim finish around that cockpit, bet it smells nice. Just needs some walnut veneer here and there to give it that quality feel. Beat that Apache!
Zorrin Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 It's a cup holder. Sheesh, how can any self respecting attack pilot go to war without a cup holder! 1 Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

skypirate Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 After all this, I wonder now whether the KA-50 simulated by DCS is the one which is supposed to fly now in the russian army anyway... I bet the army would not give the information about their latest research, developments and appliances in their crafts to a team which will reproduce it and give it to the general public.... But at the same time why don't we have the bloody FLIR in the simulation when it is in there already (come on, don't tell me army doesn't have it yet :megalol:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!

The funny thing in this discussion is, that if 1 Ka-50 is fitted with an RWR, that makes about 10% of all Ka-50s in active Russian service, considering there are only 10-12 active overall. :music_whistling: MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD

skypirate Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 And by the way I would like to ask what is that "New Secret Stuff" on the nose of the real Ka-50??.. Check that out... Board "Yellow 25" has it... The new set of eyes for the shark I guess :smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!

eV1Te Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 I found another "secret" accessory on the Ka-50 :music_whistling:
airea Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Maybe ABRIS is not only using Russian Glonass satellites but also US satellites via garmin:)

skypirate Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I found another "secret" accessory on the Ka-50 By the way that GARMIN antenna you can see even on your own virtual KA-50.... It's there on the top of the tail boom. You can even read garmin.. But I'm still interested in the real purpose of the new "eyes" and why we don't have it?... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!
EvilBivol-1 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) The new defensive suite, consisting the IR missile plume detectors and DIRCM pods was tested on #25 around 2004-2006, but it is not known what happened with it after. The sensors have since been removed from #25 and were not seen again until they showed up on the latest Ka-52 prototype. The last Ka-50s produced last year were built with provisions for these sensors on the fuselage, but the sensors themselves were missing. In any case, ED was not provided with any information on the functionality of the systems, so they had nothing to model. skypirate Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 In any case, ED was not provided with any information on the functionality of the systems, so they had nothing to model. I know.... I'm just joking.. Of course ED will not put something which is not there anyway and I would not feel that is real at the end of the day, I just wanna share that I'm a bit frustrated that the russian military are not developing that amazing craft to it's final touches so that it becomes really the best of it's kind. It's has nothing to do with ED; it's the Rus Defense ministry :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!
