MT CPU Bound Renderthread, CPU Main Thread

amd 5800x3d 64gb 3600 ram 3060 12gb gpu.  HP G2 ver 1.  In the main menu screen with the fps counter on it shows CPU bound. I have a simple refuel mission f18 fps counter shows cpu bound render thread and cpu main. As for any gains i might of improved 5 fps with my G2. If I swap over to my quest2 it has lost fps and has a bad stutter. In a level turn about every 4 seconds you can see it hesitate. I know my 3060 will be my bottleneck but I'm surprised with the cpu message.

I've got the same problem. Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 3080 and 64 RAM, with HP G2 as well. Same message, CPU Bound. Already ran a repair, removed all mods, deleted fxo and metashaders folders, to no effect.

No change for me also slow repair and deleting fxo and shaders but its still playable for so at least thats a plus

Ryzen 5700X here, same issue. I'm getting the impression that MT works better with Intel CPU's at the moment. Don't see why I should still be CPU bound on single player missions with no other units.

Nope, same for me on a 13700KF. Running at 5.5ghz, 6900xt and 32gb DDR5. I lost an immediate ~25% performance in VR with the MT release option, with exactly the same settings as single threading side by side. Something is oddly broken for an unfortunate few of us.

exactly the same for me. Also on the G2 with those two CPU Bound warnings. Only 5 FPS more maybe. Thats really sad! Was hoping for much more

this is not a bug, it's always going to be bound by CPU or GPU.  If it wasn't bound by something, then you'd have infinite fps

You don't know what your talking about. Do you honestly think people are that dumb and your so smart to bring this to their attention. Come on.

Just updated. Cleared shaders, ensured latest nVidia drivers.

Noticed the CPU Bound on the MT FPS counter, during the default Cold & Dark Nellis F-16 mission.

Running an i9-10900k with 64Gigs RAM, 3080, installed on an exclusive NVME.

Same 36FPS as with not using the MT exe. Odd.

I'm on 5800x3d , 3060 12Gb and G2. The FPS counter strangely shows CPU bound but when you use something like RivaTuner Statistics Server to cap FPS to a lower value than the one  shown in counter (let's say 45 to get 1/2 G2 refresh), then the FPS counter will start showing GPU bound and in addition it will show your theoretical max FPS - which is 200-300FPS for me 🙂

So don't worry. MT is working as intended. Better check your GPU usage in said RTS Server / MSI Afterburner. I'm hitting 99% GPU usage and there is nothing more I can do, but to wait for 4080 to drop price....

Chalk up another one. No reduction in FPS, still very playable, but minimal increase and also showing CPU bound in the F18 Syria free flight mission.

Same here.  No significant change to performance one way or the other, but I get the CPU bound message when my CPU is at ~20% and GPU at 100%

Not sure if its just an incorrectly reported bottleneck or its not utilising the CPU cores as well as it could.

Test mission started fine, with "GPU bound" in green.
Closing in on some AI-action, it went to "CPU bound rendering thread" in red letters in spite of lowered setting (vs former version)
Motion reprojection off.
Terrible ghosting and cockpit micro stutter. That nightmare is back.
Specs in signature.

Edit: I have the same experience in all startup versions; --force etc, Open composite, and  both with and without Openxr.

Ditto on all of the above.  9900K @ 4.8Ghz, 64GB 3200 DDR4, and a 2080.  Now, when I run it flatscreen I show red GPU bound which is what I would expect with a 2080 in my system.  I need to do some more checking on my actual CPU usage though.  Of course, every time I get settled in and start doing something it's time for the family to "need" something.  lol

Why is the rum always gone!?!?!?!

Same for me: CPU bound in VR with HP Reverb G2. GPU bound in 2D. Updated drivers, no mods, full repair.

System:

  • ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming WIFI
  • Intel Core i9-10900k
  • 32 GB RAM Trident Z Neo
  • ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090 OC
  • WD BLACK NMEe 2.0 TB
  • Windows 10 Pro

+1: green GPU bound 2D, red CPU bound main thread VR (G2).+4-5 fps overall, but much worse stutter.

Motion reprojection always off, full repair.

  • PC: 10700K | Gigabyte Z490 | Palit 3090 GamingPro | 32GB | Win10
  • HMD: HP Reverb G2 | OpenXR @ 120% | OpenXR Toolkit: exposure, brightness, saturation | DCS 2.9: DLAA with Sharpening 0.5 (no upscaling)
  • Controllers: VKB Gunfighter MkIII base & 200 mm curved extension center mounted + TM F16 Grip / MCG Pro Grip | TM TFRP

I had same issue, but it seems to be resolved for me.

I enabled thread optimalization, and set MAX FRAME to  1000 .

Now, higher fps at high preset. averaging 60 fps on free flight syria with the f16,where as I was locked prior at 45 fps.

No more cpu bound in red, instead gpu bound in green which makes more sense.

I don't think it's working. The reason I think I really am CPU bound is that even if I dramatically lower the resolution and eye-candy, I get very slim gains in fps.

I'm running 5800X3D,  3080, G2. While MT works great in 2D, I get no gains at all in VR.

I have tried pretty much all the settings in nvidia control panel, dcs, openxr toolkit, openxr companion app, BIOS, windows, (etc?). No joy.

I have similar problem in 2D. Simple mission with F-16 and few ground units. Sometimes CPU Bound and FPS drop from 180 to 60-80.
I5 13600k, RTX3090, 32GB DDR5 NVME Disk. It is totaly random. Sometimes stable 180FPS, sometimes randoms drops. Of Course on MT version.
