Hello Big!
I noticed that when installing SINAI on my server, the download says it will download 35GB (59GB when unzipped), which is the exact same size as in the playable installation folder on my client. I thought the server maps are smaller caused by missing textures and so on ... ?

This is true only for new modular server installation, sinai i.e. requires only 35GB

On all other server type ( full client or "old" dedicated ) Sinai will use 55GB of disk space.

DCS_updater.exe install SINAIMAP_terrain

open an explorer window and navigate to the bin folder of your DCS installation:

Put your cursor in the address bar and type cmd and hit enter on your keyboard.

A prompt will open. Copy there the string:  DCS_updater.exe install SINAIMAP_terrain and hit enter on keyboard

To all that are diverting to this version:
The configuration is changed to default values (in my case the port was a different one, thus at first it didn't work because of firewall issues).

Just to let you know ...

If you let it create a new folder, all is defaults in there. If you use the old one with -w DCS.openbeta_server, you'll use the existing config.

You're looking in the wrong place.
If you've the icon on the desktop to start the server, right click on it and click on Open file location

Got web error when clicking download link.

Installed Sinai manually on dedicated server. Question: Will plain old dcs_updater.exe still update all currently installed terrain and tech modules as updates occur? Just want to make sure I understand correctly.

Is it possible to relocate the write folder for the dedicated server to something other than Saved Games, for instance put it on a different drive?

Cheers

kinda , you can use junction link magic  (or DOS mlink command)  to link Saved Games to a different drive and folder, I have done this for years now

You can probably mess around with symlinks if you want to "share" folders to save space.
I share a lot of the same folders between Stable and OB in Saved Games, so ie. all mods are the same, and only take up space once.

Cheers!

You can run a server from your openbeta installation in a dedicated working directory, and run openbeta client on the same machine.

Don't need to install dedicated server

Definitely not needed.

You can run a server from full dcs client installation without any issue at all.

it will all depens on :
1. if dedicated server use the same amount of resources compare to dcs standalone by pass "--server" parametere to it, if it gave me same exact perfomance, well, you are right
2. if I can run the DCS standalone as a server in multi instances
3. being able to run the standalone while the server is running

I am using multiple machines, and the one I am talking about is not mine gamming rig, but it has decend resources to run multiple instaces of server, and I might need to fireup standalonme time to time while keeping the server modular ( ex: only use syria and Nevada on the server - I know I can create aliases but again repair will be messy )
