Not sure if it’s a bug, but I can’t radio or use comms with my wingman or flight in the blue nose bastards campaign.   I toggle my comm button and the menu simply doesn’t pop up.

Tried all four channels, nothing….

the comms work well when in on the ground (ATC for startup, etc), once airborne the menu won’t even pop up.

There are lots of threads that state that the comms button you use for ground communication does not work airborne by design.

Are you sure you have the proper key bindings for the radio buttons? (not the # or \) You will need those midair.

Maybe a short track could be useful.

Seems like I’m missing something, so let me be real specific.

once airborne,

in the cockpit I press radio channel a,b,c, then d, trying each one

i hit me transmit button, which is blinded to the “/“ on keyboard

nothing happens.  What am I missing ??

You're supposed to bind and use "Push to talk" command which will activate PTT button on the throttle grip and simulates transmitting through the radio. I think it's "Alt+/" by default? The "/" is just comms menu command which simulates shouting out of the cockpit - which will obviously do nothing once you're already airborne.

That applies to all modules in DCS when realistic comms is enabled in game options.

That's the problem.

/ does not work airborne.

You wanna find and bind the buttons each aircraft's radio(s) need to transmit.

The "/" key is only for ground ops as @Art-J also stated.

This seems to be one of the most unintuitive features of DCS World. There are lots of users (me included) that have been running into this trap. So I hope the new ATC implementation will get rid of this - some day, better sooner than later!

Good news is: If you'll get by this issue it will feel really great to use the radios with each aircraft. Imho.

I have the same problem. I can use comms on the ground, but as soon as i get airborne my comms stopped working, changing to correct channels also doesnt work.

I think Reflected mentioned that in the eleventh hour, ED changed the Normandy map frequencies.  Not sure why they would do that...but now Reflected needs to update the freqs.  I would imagine it's a PIA...LOL.

Hi.

You can go to ME before the mission and set the correct frequency for your plane/airfield.

Works until there is an update.

No need to save. Just change the frequency right before flight, exit ME and fly mission.

Works for me.

Just got clarification, he means use the Mission Planner button at the bottom of each briefing page; this allows you to make limited edits to loadouts, skins and other options for your aircraft and those of your flight members prior to committing to the mission.

Actually .... I never checked it (possibility to edit it), but now I noticed that you can edit the frequencies there before the mission. Thanks for the idea.

That's pretty much the default for the radio on single PTT modules. "\" only is for ground comms. ED changed this a while back, which has made a lot of confusion. Not sure how it works with Easy Comms as I've never used it.

In any case I use VAICOM a plugin for VoiceAttack, so I never use the radio menu, not even in Reflected's campaigns, because VAICOM can import the special F10 radio menu items, and I edit them to my needs.

Cheers!
