Predator-78 Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I noticed that in some light conditions the reflection of sunlight on the dome is very high and you can't see anything. As realistic as it may be as an effect, I think the intensity is excessive. Can anything be done? 3 CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K 3.60 GHz - DDR4 64,0 GB - MSI RTX3080ti - Win 11 64bit
Jackjack171 Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I had the same happen to me last night. Tried to join on a B-17 and that glow was just too overpowering. I thought it was me somehow as I hadn't flown the spit in a while. Thank you for posting. 1 DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. Real men don't cry!
HotTom Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Yup. Really too intense and needs to be reduced. On the Malta missions I've been building and posting, I keep the canopy open (which is historically accurate) and the vision improvement is amazing. 4 Exceptional engineering...and a large hammer to make it fit!
Screamadelica Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Can't remember how many times I've lost sight of an enemy aircraft because of the canopy glare. It's hard enough spotting a bandit without adding this to the mix as well. 1
speed-of-heat Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 It's certainly improved, I would not say its totally fixed... I still get to a canopy white out in certain position of the sun etc... 1 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Crash Master Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 +1 from me. I spend most of my time in the A-10C II and, depending on the angle of the sun, it will completely wash out the HUD display. Does not seem to be as intense in Steam VR I've noticed.

speed-of-heat Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Hi Catching it just right is hard but here are couple that give you the "flavour", specifically the bright white patch can under circumstances become canopy wide as can the orange "smear" which looks to be reflection null SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

Thanks. For me the issue is different than cockpit reflections and has more to do with glare from sun and bright clouds, and is more prevalent in VR than 2D. The tendency for glare to completely wash out the HUD is normal, I suppose, and should be expected when flying "toward the light", but it just seems a bit excessive, especially in OpenXR. As I said earlier, it seemed more tolerable in WMR for Steam. I haven't seen any other complaints about it here, so maybe it's my settings or me just being whiney. I don't know how to get a screen shot from VR, but I would if I could.
