muamshai Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) So how will it work against human players in fighters? I am not sure how are you going to survive a fighter attack when you are flying a Ka-50. The fighter jockey will fire like 6 AAMs for a kill in his stats (and to feel better) , and you will have less than a few seconds to save your butt, let alone responding him back with the same love. I am writing this after my experience on LOCK ON severs. My personal record is evading 12 AAMs in Su-25 in one sortie against human players when I was hunting ground targets:joystick: Edited March 2, 2009 by muamshai This space is available for your advertisement
Peyoteros Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Come on man, same as it works now. There will be no fighter slots in the Ka-50 mission... And no one will fly Ka-50 in fighter mission. Simple... "Eagle Dynamics" - simulating human madness since 1991 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ۞ ۞
MBot Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 There is not much point in playing head to head multiplayer in the Ka-50, because the helo should try to evade air contacts whenever possible. The Ka-50 is better suited to play coop type multiplayer. 1

Slayer Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 It would be great to have missions though where the fighters have to sweep the area and defend while the ka-50's do what they do....more of a co-op thing though. MadMaxter Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 If you can't fly fighters with helos in missions than you have just hamstrung a lot of capabilities for real life simulation. Co-op is one thing. But a two team endeavor where one team has to escort the choppers and the other team has to shoot them down to protect their troops is another scenario missed. I hope that this is not a trend that continues with DCS modules. max 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:
RedTiger Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Come on man, same as it works now. There will be no fighter slots in the Ka-50 mission... And no one will fly Ka-50 in fighter mission. Simple... I don't even do multiplayer and I hope you're kidding about this one! Helicopters in missions with fighters will work the way it does in real life. It won't be much different than LOMAC's mud movers, probably. How will you handle players in fighters? You won't, YOUR side's fighters will. Now someone tell me again about how the mud movers make history because fighters allow them to. :P
Vault Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Forget the fighters if you're spotted by an enemy in the upcoming A-10C module and you find yourself on the wrong end of a GAU-8, fighters will be the least of your worries. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Kenan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 To be honest, I don't think it's gonna be that easy for fighters to spot and kill Hokums, especially if the mission area is made of mountanous terrains / hills. On the contrary, it's gonna be a difficult job to intercept them and stop them from destroying frendly ground units. Now, if the mission was set in a dessert well, it would be a completely different story.. CE_Mikemonster Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 If the mission was set in the dessert it would be a trifle hard to fly for the Ka-50 pilot! Too many cowboys. Not enough indians. GO APE SH*T
GGTharos Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I guess it depends on which fighter you're flying ... F-15C's didn't have any problems picking up helis in a valley that an AWACS couldn't see ... Vault Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I think the combination of the LITENING pods FLIR and GAU-8 will become a frustrating problem for the Hokum drivers. Viper I think you can up those odds to 1:99 ;) I'm really looking forward to giving whirlybird pilots an in depth cutaway view of their helis. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Raploc Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 http://www.g2mil.com/apaches.htm While the article deals with the Apache the theory remains the same for all attack helicopters. tb Mmmmm interesting . Of course this is just a piece of writing from teh internetzzz but let us ponder a bit. AH should "only" be used together with ground forces, maybe this opens a new perspective on the BS missions. More supporting roles instead of lone wolf actions? What do you think?
GGTharos Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Yes, and they should be thinking 'where's that fighter where's that fighter' while sweating in that hokum seat :D If the A-10 driver is silly enough to: 1) Not see you 2) Fly directly at or away from you 3) Fly at your altitude Then you have a chance. If any one of those is not satisfied, your vikhr has zero chance of hitting, and any hog driver worth his salt will pull high and then come down on you like a ton of bricks :D That said, most people fly the hog in such a way that fulfills all above conditions. GGTharos Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Since when does any part of a military conduct 'lone wolf actions' unless they're under-manner and/or desperate? The AH's role always was and still IS to support the ground forces by destroying enemy armor and infantry. Special missions are the exception that proves the rule. Mmmmm interesting .
