Raviar Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Will there be any updates to Nedava? such as: performance improvement terrain graphical update 4
Rudel_chw Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Unlikely, it's not in early access anymore. Also, on my PC, this is one of the better performing maps available .. only Caucasus perform slightly better. 4 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Art-J Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I'm with Rudel on that one. ED has explained numerous times that the map is considered feature complete, and I guess it's still not "old enough", nor did it sell well enough to get "version 2.0" treatment anytime soon, if ever. But that situation has its pros as well - apart from Vegas region (for players with lower-end hardware), NTTR, next to Caucasus, really is the best performing map in DCS by far. Thus, although I wouldn't mind getting a bit more rounded 3D mesh here and there, better night lighting and higher rez textures with toned down yellows and reds in colour palette, one has to be aware that all these things are not "free" and would actually come with performance decrease. 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

I'm not complaining at all if you're referring to me. I bought Nevada along with the Warthog years ago, so the map isn't exactly recent. I would love it if they decided to do a revisit and just update it. Maybe adding a few more details. In flight groups it is one of the major maps used for multiplayer training. 1 CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K 3.60 GHz - DDR4 64,0 GB - MSI RTX3080ti - Win 11 64bit

Predator-78 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 then something got lost in the translation … what did you mean by "map now in the trash" ? I mean that they certainly don't intend to improve further by adding other details that could make it better than it is. Raviar Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 (edited) It was just a question to ED and NOT request! Please calm down, the update will cost, needs planning, needs business justification, needs resources, needs budget planning, might not be priority (as I think thats the case, there are a lot in the roadmap). the other game (dont want to name it, FPS semi milsim game) released map 10 years ago and never touched it again!(while they have more than 8K active player daily!). we got update for Normandy within 2 years which is really nice, although draged the Syria update, I dont expect free update as the Map already released. it would be great if ED would like to plan it for expansion to California and Arizona, would be extremley nice to get Miramar and Nellis at one Map with some waters for NavyOps. it is just a wish. Raisuli Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) This map has its charms despite being a desert, like (almost) all the other maps. In general I'm not a fan of Vegas, despite having been there too many times. Zip down Las Vegas boulevard from the north at mach 1.25 around 100' AGL with the blower lit, slide under the Strat, hang a 9.2G left turn at the Mirage, and blast down to the south side of McCarran (they renamed it after a different corrupt senator lately) dodge all the signs, pull another hard left and circle over the international airport, then back up north, with nothing but shattered windows and car alarms to mark my passing. That gets adjusted a bit for the F-18, but the net result is the same. It's almost as much fun as bombing a certain individual's house in Damascus, and at no point does ATC radio and tell me they have a number for me to write down when I have a moment for potential pilot deviation flying over four runways at very low altitude without clearance. Head over and land at Groom Lake, which isn't allowed. Two ridges to the west is Craters of the Moon National Security Area, the most bombed real estate on earth, followed by Pahute Mesa, one of my favorite places to park bad guys. A little farther is Tonapah Test Range, also not a place anybody gets to visit. At the speeds I 'drive' down the strip I don't even notice the goofy names, or the low res textures, or the cartoonish colors. The rest is pretty much like every other map. Potential target areas separated by runways. <edit> I should add there's no urban area on any map I like to watch bombed more than this one (did I mention I don't like Vegas?), so any time I want a mission where BadGuys(tm) are attacking a city it's usually here. Of course then the challenge is to attack the raiders rather than join them...but maybe that simulates the conflict pilots go through in combat. Sort of. In an extreme way. Maybe just one 2,000 pounder on that tower over there? Okay, two. Don't want to unbalance the aircraft. </edit> Edited October 6, 2023 by Raisuli 3

sirrah Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Came across this thread and thought I'd chime in (for what it's worth) Although I'm with DCS since it was born (and before that ), I never purchased the Nevada map, as I rather fly in (potential) conflict zones. Today I found @Rudel_chw's F-15E training missions and wanted to give 'em a go (great stuff btw Rudel ), so I activated the 14 day trial for the Nevada map. So, as a NTTR newcomer , my first thought when checking the F10 map was: wow, this map is really small in size. Don't get me wrong, this is no rant, just an observation from someone new to this map. Scenery and textures look pretty decent imho (though I have an old system, so I accept lesser visuals). Color looks quite good to me, especially now we can set our own color filters. Would be great to see upgraded lighting (imagine how that'd really make Vegas shine ), but I see from @draconus that's in the pipeline. I might go a bit off topic from here, sorry: What I think is off though, is the price of this map.. sorry.. again no rant, just an observation.. I mean, without discount, the price of this map is almost the same as the other (newer) maps. That doesn't really seem right to me, considering its features and details. ED of course knows what they're doing, but personally, I think ED should consider permanently reducing the Nevada map price a tad, as imho, it is not on par with the other maps in terms of details, size and assets. Just my 2 cents. Their 2x14days a year trial program is even more impressive (can't recall I ever saw any game having this), but.. Newcomers who are not familiar with DCS sale, might pay the full price and I can imagine them being disappointed with NTTR after paying €50,- (especially if they previously also purchased any of the other maps). The discount/sale price (usually €24,- iirc) seems much more fitting as normal price tag imho. 2 System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

Guess at that time the list price was US$ 60. Am I disappointed? After flying on it for over 7 years, no, not disappointed ... I would be if the Map couldnt be used with the current DCS because of its age, but in stark difference to other games, ED has kept my old map updated enough to still be fully playable, and without asking for a penny more. 5 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

After exploring NTTR map today, for the first time, I couldn't help myself thinking: "How can ED these days still ask €50,- for this map, while for instance Sinai map (without EA discount) is equally priced".
