Hi Buur, you can check these points using the DCS Model Viewer, option "CarrierRouteManager". The 8 parking slots in the screen below are mine, not the most recent ones. They free simultaneously the landing deck and the forward catapults for combined air ops. Enjoy !  😀

Very useful!

Indeed, this is a very neat tool, once you get yours hands on it. The learning curve is quite steep, in my opinion, because there are so many options and features. But it's very powerful. I confess that I'm far from being an expert when using it 😉

Without derailing TeTe's thread, can you possibly create your own thread, and explain a bit more, and how you chose the paths, the start/end points etc ?

Hi Oban, I'm not at all an expert here, and don't have the expertise to create a specific thread for this. I've been using a lot of trial and error cycles... 😉 The routes and parking spots are clearly your choice, with respect to the obstructions on the deck, e.g., the carrier island end the elevators limits. The Model Viewer is a good tool here to help. The other point is that you must take into account the size of the aircraft, I.e., an A-4 is much smaller than a F-8, etc. When they turn on the deck after landing, their wing tips must not interfere with the obstacles. Also, you must define your parking spots first, and then your routes to the cats. And conversely, the routes from the end of the landing area to the parking spots. There are numbers of photos and comments on carriers and the DCS Super Carrier Mod to help design the correct parkings configurations as IRL (see screen attached). As far as I know, the real expert here is Joey45 😉 Enjoy !

Meantime we're busy getting the F-8 Crusader into the pack. It will be a low-fi version with a SFM and not really carrier operations suitable, but for the AI. If you know how to get the carrier ops going for a SFM plane, please reach out! 

Hawkeye60 and seabat have delivered model and liveries in abundance for the F-8. 

Citizen has reworked the AA effects of the Maddox armament. 

Sidekick has provided screenshots for the loading et al screens.

seabat has delivered new parking positions and fixed the AI landing of CVA-31!

Toan sent new wake effects for both Bonnie Dick and Maddox.

Stay tuned for an update, hopefully next week!

Vietnam War Vessels 0.3.0 is out:

Thanks to the team for adding the F-8 primarily as an AI and static plane to the pack! While it can be flown as player, it's hardly tested and not very functional at the moment.

Check the Limitations section in the README, listed here as well:

Known Limitations

CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard
    - Player controlled helicopters slightly move forward on the flight deck
F-8 Crusader
    - Aircraft is intended as static and for limited AI operations
    - Player control is experimental at best, but largely untested and unsupported
    - Carrier launch operations are not supported for player aircraft, only AI
    - Unknown how to drop bombs as player aircraft
    - Variable incidence wing is not enabled

Not sure about the scale, I admit I haven't measured the 3d model. But it benefitted from moving the cat forward, just like for the VSN F-4 and F-14.

Not sure about the scale, I admit I haven't measured the 3d model. But it benefitted from moving the cat forward, just like for the VSN F-4 and F-14.

Scale is fine, I checked the measurements in MV, it's the Giant Pilot that is overscaled ! 😄

Hi UN9249, thanks for checking out the mod! The starting positions need a check-up then, I only placed planes in a way that it works so far. Which options of runway/ramp/parking hot did you use to achieve the blocked take-off slots? On the rotations, are you on DCS 2.8 or 2.9? There seems to be a substantial difference if a plane will rotate 180 degree after the last parking spot is reached. Also in our testing at times the parking positions were reached in ... interesting ways.

I'am using latest version of DCS which is 2.9.....

As for block runways, i just put 5-6 groups of a-4 spawn with parking hot.

That wasnt last stand. It was 2nd test with f-8 and a-4. As f-8 faster, they've finished task, and 2 of them landed. They were parked on right rear part of carier. Than no AI plane could land until they dissapear. Than landed a group of A-4 which is parked on a nose. Than 2 f-8 which started rotating (screen). Than every landed airplane just dissapeared after landing except 1 a-4 which wanted to park near f-8, and get smashed by them rotating. It doesn't explode, but i saw debris.

Hi UN, as far as I know, there is a problem when lauching groups of AI planes on the CVA-31. I noticed that when I tried to cat launch 2 groups of 2 planes, the second group would never move. It works with several groups of a single AI plane, though, whatever the number of groups (I trested 4 single groups). I suppose that this is DCS problem, not a Mod one, because  it is well known that DCS AI is somehow unpredictable 🤔 another example is when I wanted to launch an AI F-8 Crusader and an AI SH-2 helicopter at the same time in the ME, and the F-8 would never launch, but the helo did. Not sure either why this doesn't work . Again a DCS AI problem ? Note : I use DCS OB 2.8.8. Enjoy ! 😀

Unfortunatelly i'am not good about understanding how it all works.

I wanted to tell the author things i found. This mod is allready good, and i thaught i could help to polish it ))

Hi UN, Well all comments are welcome and I think they all help to improve the Mods. Similarly, I tried launching 5 single AI plane groups, and they do land correctly, but some of them have several circling erratic final approach paths before catching the wires, but well, let's suppose that's DCA AI ? 🙂 Enjoy !

The team is busy working on 0.3.1 to bring some needed improvements to the mod. We hope for a soonish release, within two weeks (tm) 🙂
