Gunfreak Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 So we're getting the C130, and the C47 is basically the old school C130. In a ww2 environment it can drop cargo, troops etc would do the same in a dynamic campaign ww2 environment as the C130 will do in a modern one. But it can be used for more. ED has confirmed a vientam map some time in the distant future. Here the C47 could be used for clandestine work(air America) dropping special forces etc. And of course you should have the ability to turn in into a spooky. It can be used for many other things. On many other maps too. 4 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Silver_Dragon Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 C-47/DC-3 will be a good cargo / paratroop aircraft to WW2 / Early cold war. Not bad see them on DCS W, and the Cargo funtionality has incoming. About "Vietnam", C-47, a "early" C-130, a C-7 Caribou, C-119 Flying Boxcar and a C-123 Provider (with a AC Gunship versions). For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF
Beirut Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Definitely prefer the C-130, but a C-47 could be a lot of fun. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Goose489 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 A "Puff the Magic Dragon" would be a lot of fun in the game along with the A/C-130.
Bremspropeller Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I'd love dropping a Fire Force into the rhodesian bush. The Alouettes can be simulated by Gazelles and the Puma by a Mi-8. The overwing Browning armed O-2 is gonna be tough, though 1 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
Tank50us Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Another thing to remember, is that the DC-3 is still in use to this day. Mostly as a puddle-jumper aircraft, but some military's still use it, or hold a stock in reserve for light troop transport duties 1

That's a lot of potential missions or even campaigns to do stuff with 1 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Hiob Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 All for it! 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

A mission where a dozen or so DC-3s have to snake through the mountains and avoid fighters in order to deliver 'product' 3

Hiob Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 That could be the day, I'd invest in a yoke for DCS! 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Slippa Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 A couple of other minor operations they were involved in… Overlord and Market Garden. Criminal not to have them here. 1
