I am quite calm - still had no intent to call for a 'refund' ... but I don't think that anything could make the actual situation worse than it is. Damage has been done to everything and rather everyone that has really a passion for this stuff and a lot of trust is gone at least for myself.

Mostly Razbam in this instance. Irrespective of whether or not the relationship with DCS is restored, this is going to follow them wherever they go next.

...The Best... This is subjective, maybe when/if all bugs are fixed it could be one of the better modules. This "pay them" for the software to work as intended taste like "ransomware", don't you think?

I was waiting for a resolution. I even had two different installs of DCS World, one with all modules, the other with only Razbam modules. This latter one I wouldn't update in order to be able to fly the F-15. But now, with the realization that the code has time bombs on it, and the module is already broken, I decided to ask for a refund. With a heavy heart. That was a thought that even didn't crossed my mind before.

But there is no resolution in sight, things are getting worse, so it was time to say farewell to the beloved Strike Eagle.

It's a shame. "2023 The year of the Strike Eagle" ended up being one year of the Strike Eagle.

shame to both razbam and ed, they make their customers to suffer because of their impossibility of reaching an agreement.

I got an easy, quick fix. Ima get my money back. Cheers, everyone. When and IF one day those two companies will be able to get their stuff together, i will be happy to buy the Strike Eagle again. Maybe. What’s happening here is hilarious, and it started 3 months ago, not two days ago.

Everyone complaining is completely right, flight simulation is not cheap and they spent real money on it. At least stuff should work as intended: instead, my radar is CRIPPLED! How i’m supposed to defend myself? With bad words?

Really disappointed in this development.  The module was time-bombed either maliciously or incompetently, either one does not measure up well.  They either knew the certificate was expiring and chose not to say/do anything because "reasons," or they didn't even know due to incompetence.  AV8 was on my short list of things to get next, and now I wouldn't even consider something from Razbam on any platform.  Very sad times.

Same here. I'll just park it in the hangar for a little while longer, see if it gets fixed and then go from there.

I have been neutral towards this whole situation, not having any real information. But as a customer, regardless of the situation, if RAZBAM does not fix this within the next week, they have declared themselves the loser. If they fix it so as to keep the functionality that we purchased, I may continue to support them.

Now, if the whole story comes out, including this time-bomb development, I may change my tune.

Never, never include your customers in your business problems. It will always backfire.

I mean something "changed". Some of the F-15E DLLs were "updated" on the last patch day.

Both Raz and ED need to do better.

They might well just rebuild them as a matter of course on every release.  Without being able to compare them with prior versions it is difficult to judge if any actual change occurred.

Hi all we are aware of the problem and we will look for a resolution.

thank you

Hi BigNewy,

Will we be provided with an explanation of the root cause of this once resolved? Given the heightened tensions around this module, any kind of unusual breakages like this is highly suspect and so I feel that a more detailed explanation is warranted. This is not a typical bug experience as this is date specific so more than a typical approach to announcing the resolution should be offered. As a customer who paid for the Strike Eagle and still loves to fly it, this kind of thing has a notable impact upon my enjoyment. I will set my computer date back after loading DCS and then set it to automatic updates after I am done but it's all pretty impactful to my enjoyment of DCS.

Thanks!

You could be right. However, I don't think every dll in the F-15 were updated and some of the ones that were are showing up in virus scans, whether it's a false positive or not.

I'm speaking mostly about optics. How that appears to people, right or wrong. I just think ED and Raz can be doing better and this situation should have been avoided. The  F-15E is broke. We shouldn't be in this situation, but here we are.

They wouldn't necessarily have to update every single one but they may well have to regularly rebuild ones that are direct touchpoints to the core DCS code.  The ones tripping of certain A/V products is a more complicated issue that can be for a multitude of reasons (and i've been gaming long enough to have seen it happen a few times with other titles down the years for no good reason).

And yeah, i'd agree the general situation is a highly imperfect current state of affairs and I don't think anyone would disagree on that score.

There is an easy fix....PAY RAZBAM.  Harrier, Mirage and F-15E all broken now.

It's only "easy" when you assume a lot...

When you assume that Razbam's developers are still on the payroll and available to continue work on the module, and fix the current bugs.

When you assume that ED are in a position where there would be no legal implications for paying Razbam with any legal proceedings that could possibly be taking place.

When you assume that Razbam would honor the payment and continue work, and not take the money and then not maintain their modules (which could be either in, or out of their control, such as dev's moving on to other employment) or demand/request even more money for damages, and then hold up work while other legal proceedings take place.

When you assume that the reason for all this is solely payment, and there aren't deeper legal issues at play that none of us are aware of

... and who knows what else. It's "easy" to claim "easy fix"es when you make a lot of assumptions and don't have to take responsibility for those assumptions.

The mess that's created is anything but easy to fix. Hopefully there will be a fix, but if time-bomb code has been included and is causing some of these issues, I suspect that it would mean this mess just got a lot deeper and messier than it was a week ago, and it will take longer to resolve with even more legal implications - thus even more complicated and less easy than it was a week ago. Let's really hope that's not the case because for now, it's already anything but easy.

There is an easy fix…..RAZBAM-Management PAY your employees, and address the reason why one of your clients felt legally entitled to withhold payment. Harrier, Mirage and F-15E all broken now.
