Just got my manual today, My god the quality is great, I did have reservations since it was all in black and white and also still showing the russian pit, but I need'nt of worried, the manual will be a great help when figuring out the last few things that I either didnt know or have been having problems with in the shark.

The quality of the manual is great and it reminds me of the f16 manual from falcon that I have, but the KA-50 manual from ED looks like it goes into so much more detail than falcons, it is going to be a GREAT pleasure to read and most of all read it whilst playing the game, as I hated alt+tabbing out of game to check and double check on somethings that I wasnt familiar with, but now I can stop doing that :)

Thanks ED for a great manual

I've a question!

Will this "extended manual" be available to download customers as downloadable PDF or are we just fine with the, although extensive, shorter manual?

Someone dropped the ball somewhere in the distribution chain. I've waited this long so I guess I can wait another month ... it is very frustrating, though.

Going independent does have its challenges. No big publisher to support testing, documentation, retail distribution, makerting, etc. "The whole enchilada" is now in the few hands at ED/TFC. I'm sure they are learning lessons with experience.

Of course, history teaches us that going through a publisher is no guarantee of perfection, either. ;)

Don't you mean manual?, I haven't had a problem with the release of the sim. If not how has it been problematic?

I'd like to comment here that I don't agree with this opinion. IMHO, the simulation release was not flawed. This is one of the few--if not the only--pieces of PC game software I have purchased in many years that installed seamlessly and played right out of the gate. There may be some small issues here and there that people want to see changed or added, but all-in-all this simulation plays very well and does not suffer the many bugs (some of them quite serious) that other PC games have had. When we get the first patch--and I think the only one needed, I think there may be as much or revised content as "bug" fixes.

I firmly believe ED deserves a resounding Well Done! for that . Not many of the other (read here bigger, richer, more recognized) PC entertainment software houses have been able to accomplish what ED have done with DCS:BS.

My comments (complaints if you will) are about the distribution of the printed manual and I can understand that worldwide gaming distribution channels may well be outside the experience of ED/TFC. I agree with EvilBivol that they are most probably learning from this manual release.

The printed manual is now in all the distribution centres, USA, Europe, and Australlia. However, whereas in Europe manuals can be distributed to Amazon etc within a week, the US distribution to retail channels are much longer, and would appear to be about 4 weeks.

Apparently you did not experience the joy of trying to order the Russian version from a Russian company, or trying time after time to get the download version to...download.

I have purchased to date, the Russian download, the Russian DVD, and the English DVD, and will purchase the manual when Amazon gets it in. I just think it all could have gone a little smoother....as EB said, hopefully some lessons are learned....we will see with DCS:A-10 I guess.

Well, I did not get the Russian version because I did not want it--I don't speak Russian and I was hoping for an English cockpit with the English language release.

But I was among the first to download the English version shortly after it's official release. And I had no problems downloading or installing. I still maintain that the DCS:BS release was considerably cleaner and less painful than many mainline PC games and sims today. And it certainly runs a lot better than most with no patches needed to get it going.

Yeah I got the English version and still working fine from the download, including manuals. (although I have the hard copy manual now).

It has been a seamless 1.0 version in comparison with a lot of other games I have downloaded directly or other sims I have bought from the retailers. I commend ED & Fighter Collection on a great sim that me and my friends have enjoyed for at least the last 7 months.

There are a few gripes, like no dedicated server software but on a fresh release, I think it doesn't matter too much. We will work around it. But overall, I'm totally impressed with Black Shark and the player support with the developers on these forums. It's been like no other community I know.

Hardcopy Received

I received my hardcopy of "Ka-50 Black Shark, attack helicopter," today, from The Fighter Collections. I'm glad that I didn't wait for Amazon to get their supply into distribution.

I live outside of Buffalo, NY, USA, and ordered the manual on June 5th. The printed manual is great!

Please give everyone at TFC my thanks, JimMack!

I agree, I think it was mentioned that Amazon was expecting their shipment/stock around the 8th of July give or take a few days.
