Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon detail removed

Just waiting for the inevitable poor soul to post something like this, "Just got back from a long break away from DCS, can't wait to fly some missions in northern Israel in my F-15E on Sinai!"

Regardless of what circumstances may have lead to these things happening, this is NOT a good look for DCS, ED and certainly not OnReTech. At this point, I really don't know how OnReTech plans to regain the trust of its customers. After all the disaster surrounding this map, I don't see anyone buying another product from this developer. If one were malicious, one could describe such actions as shady. There has not even been any form of communication on this topic. No words!

@OnReTech I am not asking for clarification, I am demanding clarification. The cup is slowly overflowing when it comes to certain things in and around DCS. At this point it is simply damaging the brand as such. Thank you.

I don't understand why couldn't OnReTech just leave it there. It does not mess up anything technically. People do not buy these maps for just the two of these areas.

It is very sad. I've been wanting to buy Sinai very much, mainly because it had all of Israel. But this really takes away my trust and confidence. I'm glad I haven't bought it yet.

I truly do hope this change is reversed. I really don't see how it could not be.

But alas, what's next? Will Judah disappear also once Babylon... er, Iraq comes out?

Not a huge fan of hiding threads through merging to avoid bad publicity. 

 

A large chunk of the map was removed.  Exceedingly poor form by the developer.  This should have been communicated immediately once the decision was made, not dropped on the community without warning nor addressed in the patch notes.

Apologies for making a comment that was deemed disrespectful. Hopefully whenever OnReTech sees this thread they'll respond in a way that respects everyone who paid for their content as well.

Seriously?  This was a really poor decision to remove part of the map (whoever was responsible) but to claim "hiding threads through merging to avoid bad publicity" is a bit much.  ED regularly merges threads so stuff stays together rather than having a responses spread everywhere.  Controversial subject or not.  It makes sense to do so.

Dear OnReTech,

After today’s download, I am upset to find that detailed areas have been removed in Northern Israel. I don’t see any reason to remove detailed areas that were previously available.

Nineline mentioned on the ED General discord channel that this may have take place to “not step” on Ugra Medias toes.

Well, I will “step on both your toes” and stop recommending Sinai and Syria alike until the detailed map areas come back. They were integral to my game play and wouldn’t buy either Sinai or Syria without them.

I use both Sinai and Syria together extensively as my campaigns utilize both maps. I strongly believe we are better together and that both maps will see more units if OnReTech and Ugra Media work together.

It is not a bug and can VERY loosely be defined as a "problem" if you're looking to stretch the meaning of the term.  Putting it well behind the sections takes the issue out of the view of any potential customers as they are less than likely to go there than those who currently own the product.  If their intent was only to consolidate, then that thread should have been pushed forward to the forefront, mine merged into it, and pinned.

 

And you are right,  this isn't ED's first time.

I'm expecting a version of this to be posted by ORT in the coming days:

"While adding the new airfields and detailed areas in the southern part of the map, we hit the limit of what the little old DCS engine can handle, so we had to cut off something. And since the Northern Israel is already featured on another map, we thought it's no biggie to remove it from ours."

This isn’t a joke or smart a$$ remark but could you please talk with Nick I really don’t think he understands the damage he’s doing to this brand with these continual issues lately. I love dcs but if things continue their way I’m not seeing a bright future for dcs unfortunately, you guys desperately need a reset.
