CommandT Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hi guys, Is it just me or is OVGME not working any more after the latest DCS patch 2.9.10.3948 (the one with the new fog)? If I try to enable any mod in OVGME I get an error: "Backup creation error for Mod '_______', the Mod cannot be installed" Any ideas how to get it to work again? Big thanks in advance!
ggrewe Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Hi CommandT Still working for me as well, but for some reason (I haven't worked out yet?) a few won't load with OVGME. This has always been the case for me, since I've been using OVGME for about 2 years now. For these few mods I still use the older JSGME, which still works. So I use a combination of OVGME (95%) & JSGME (5%) to load all my mods If none are loading with OVGME, might be corrupted & probably need to re-install & do a repair on DCS? CommandT Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 Thanks guys. Problem solved by deleting and re-installing OVGME! 1

I did know, tried it several times but couldn’t get used to it, OvGME meets my needs and its more intuitive and easier to use. 2 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Then by all means keep using OvGME: I will as well since OMM would mess up my Caucasus mods. I tried it, noticed it's confusing and doesn't do what I want it to, so I removed it again 1 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON

It was just a tip for OP. It's different, I wanted a new app that I found better with more and new features. Can be used by other games too. I guess OvGME can also do that? 7 minutes ago, Raven (Elysian Angel) said: I will as well since OMM would mess up my Caucasus mods. I tried it, noticed it's confusing and doesn't do what I want it to It's pretty easy once you get to know it. Pretty much does exactly the same thing. For large graphics mods I've stopped using it and gone to SLAM, which can apply Lucshep's/Bartheks's in seconds and don't do "any" writes on the drive. null
Hiob Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Same here. OVGME still works as expected for me. Never had an issue. And tbh, I can’t imagine how it should fail, since it basically just copy/paste and keeps track. Maybe some folders got renamed by the update? On another note, I notice myself using less and less mods with every update, because DCS introduces features I happened mods for all the time. Of course there are still plenty cool mods. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Oh for me it's very basic too: I use Barthek Caucasus textures and Taz trees, but other than that it's just some files I made myself: my own main menu backgrounds, I replaced some liveries (especially the default plastic toy F-16 ones by ED), better PDL lights and my own countermeasure programmes. That's it. 28 minutes ago, MAXsenna said: It's pretty easy once you get to know it. Pretty much does exactly the same thing. Possibly, but also a lot of extras that I don't need. I don't need "my community" (whatever that means) to decide which mods I use or don't use, I'll do that myself. Also, using Taz trees triggered OMM to uninstall Barthek terrain textures... I guess OvGME can also do that? yes it can, in fact applying mods to saved games and to the dcs main folder is like having two separate games. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
CommandT Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 Yeah Open Mod Manager looked way too overkill for what I really need which is to effectively enable and disable Barteks Caucuses, Taz trees and Bandit's weather mod. So I would also like to keep using it whilst it works and since it's so simple and I don't require anything else at this time. 1
HILOK Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 same here. thanks to @Rudel_chw's kind advice i sticked to OVGME. i am sure the dev did a wonderful job with OMM, and it's probably very powerful, but it seems too complex and not accessible enough to me. and the thing is, when you mess with mods, you wanna make sure you dont mess up 2
