What happened to MPSM & Flechette Rockets? And ability to load pods by zone?

MPSM & Flechette rockets were listed in the early stages of the Apache, but they are nowhere to be found in the road map now, that I can see.  Are these still coming?

I assume DCS needs core updates for the flachetes to work. I assume DCS needs proper fragmentation effects for flachetes to work. There are many aircraft in DCS that did use flachetes. F4 used them liberally in Vietnam, so did AH-1(not that we have that in DCS, but one can hope)

I would like to kindly ask if the different versions of the rockets and the use and setting of the different zones in the launch containers will be added? Adding this to the roadmap would answer this question for everyone.

@Raptor9 Could you please let us know what the status is on this?

Thank you!

When the Apache first came out we were told we would be getting MPSM and Flechette rockets, and the ability to create our own loadouts by zone in the rocket pods.  No word on these things for a LONG time, and nothing in the road map.  Are these still expected any time this century?

Would be great to see both, especially with the Kiowa also in game now.

I've done some experimentation with trying to implement MPSM rockets myself, but having them in the game natively would be a great addition.

I really hope this is still developed. Especially flechette munitions and the option to create mixed loadouts individually.

The flechette rounds are great if you need directed area effect against infantry and light vehicles with no explosive and blast damage.

...and the support of configurable zones with mixed loadouts is one of the most versatile aspects, of the FFAR rocket system, on modern helicopters.

For sure, and that dates back to the 70s:

Unfortunately, the question has not been answered for six months. After all, the variable zones for rockets are a core feature, is this still on the development list or not?

Yeah, I have asked this question several times over the last year or so and cannot get any response from ED about it.

I'm a big fan of flechette rounds having used them allot in the carl gustav,  that being said wouldn't they be basically pointless in dcs until a real damage model for all these specialty rounds gets built into dcs? Aka the ww2 damage model level amongst all ground vehicles and per warhead?

Depends on how it's handled. Flechettes in particular would be handy for both A/G and A/A, comparable to a shotgun shell. You could get away by having it behave similar to flak, so it wouldn't be real effective against heavy armor but having a wide area effect damaging to lighter vehicles and infantry. MPSM would be similar to how cluster bombs are already done.

@Lord Vader

I kindly ask if these two threads can be merged, and if one of you could perhaps ask internally how far the topics MPSM and rocket zones are. Thanks

I've asked internally about the remaining rocket types.

As for zone selecting, it's already possible to select zones for rocket pods carrying different types.
