Im am not expecting any quick resolution to this issue, I am however starting the discussion quickly as a means to get user feedback and alert the dev team. In my experience, the instant-action mission (which the track file uses) as far as I know uses no fog at all. And the Multiplayer Server I discovered the issue was on Greyflag Sinai, which uses fog. Greyflag dynamically uses the fog to ramp down at mission start, then ramps back up during mission end (over the period of 15 hours) Along with everyone else's amazing input, I hope this can give the team enough information to determine the cause and help adjust the tuning! Thank you and the rest of the team for this amazing module!

Thank you and the rest of the team for this amazing module! I'm beginning to agree with some that this may be a dedicated server issue along with fog or some other setting as I can get George to work fine on several MP servers, but unsure if fog is is on those. I took the GF mission (the downloaded track file) and ran it from DCS from the ME and George could spot stuff. I could not get it to work as MP (not dedicated) as my mouse would not work in the cockpit, very weird. DaveTC Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 My point is indeed that I am beginning to suspect that the issue has something to do with the dedicated MP server exe and not completely due to the fog settings. Basis of my assumption when running with a mission setup as a server within DCS itself George can find targets even with fog. Kind regards @NineLine Well I installed the dedicated server on my secondary PC and ran the downloaded GF track file. I think either GF sets the fog level through scripts or at the time of joining the server the fog was off because the trk file had it off. I was able to spot targets with George just fine. I edited the mission and turned fog to auto.....George can not see targets even when there is no visible fog and the target is a couple hundred meters away. So then I ran the same mission from the ME (fog on auto) and George cannot see targets I imagine all missions with fog turned on to auto or like others have tried more advanced with differing levels will have this problem. So not related to dedicated server + fog (auto), it's simply fog, maybe in this case it being set to auto. I did not try a more advanced fog setting, but fog auto definitely will prevent George from seeing stuff even with no visible fog on ME launched and dedicated server missions. Well, I believe that 4ya run their missions with fog on manual like I did in my test (see my previous postings) and not on auto! BTW when I was testing, I did not run the mission from the ME. I went to the missions menu from the main screen (not the launcher), selected the mission and then pressed the launch as multi player server button. JohnW71 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Weird, I just tested this in my training mission, George can't see anything and disabling fog did not fix it. 1
ED Team NineLine Posted December 25, 2024 ED Team Posted December 25, 2024 8 hours ago, DaveTC said: Hi, I am experiencing the same issue in the Apache. I had this issue on all the MP servers I play on, mostly 4ya. I have also heard on other forums that Petrovich is having simular issues, though I can't verify it myself! Not at all convinced that it has to do with fog because I did a following test: I created and saved a small mission with fog on manual setting (see attached images). From missions menu I launched the mission as a multiplayer server (so that I could use dynamic spawns) Jumped into the apache with Lima hellfires Lifted off and scanned for targets (see attached images) and George presented me a list of friendlies in the target list. This also worked on my own saved mission with fog setting turned off! I am wondering if it has to do with an issue on the stand-alone MP servers, because I am starting a MP server form within DCS itself and not running a separate DCS MP server like the most MP servers do. Kind regards I quickly took a peek at the track in the first post and it did not seem to be a fog issue at all, I will flag it with our team and get it looked at. PS looking at the posts after this one I see the interesting finds, thanks all for checking. It's flagged now with the team. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Kh4 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Yes I can confirm that with Fog enabled in the Mission Editor George cannot see targets, even if set to Auto and there is no visible fog. 1 1
Honez Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I did some testing and the issue seems inconsistent for me and my three flying mates. The fog does impact George but it isn't stopping him from seeing targets. I tried with fog on/off and while he sees targets farther out without fog he saw them. The moment we got into multiplayer, he stopped working every time. This is pretty easily duplicatable. We also had him stop working in single player. We thought that it was a particular map or one of my missions. However, when we tested on the canned training missions we had the same result with George not seeing targets at all in one instance and then on another instance he sees them.
ED Team Solution BIGNEWY Posted December 26, 2024 ED Team Solution Posted December 26, 2024 Dear all, we have the cause found and are working on a fix. It seems to happen for George / Petrovich if the mission fog is set to auto. Hopefully we can have a fix out ASAP but for now setting the fog manual or off will help. JohnW71 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Yesterday I tested both my own training missions, Syria & Caucasus, on both of them George could see nothing. I turned fog off, resaved, reopened, flew it and still not working. Repeated this a few times to be sure. Today they are working fine (fog still off), so either the Christmas fairies have done something or DCS needed a reboot? Who knows now. Anyway, great news a fix is coming and really nice to see the recent patch and so many improvements
