Unfortunately Sven failed to address the "speculation" regarding all of his staff leaving his little business at once

as its internal company business he doesnt need to tell us anything. You dont tell us everything that happens where you work. same same.

If I buy a bottle of coke, I dont have the right to hear about all the bs Karen from HR spews. its none of my business. nor is this.
Sven has released an official statement, anything else is between him and the employees.

I HOPE ED releases some sort of official statement (possibly jointly) so we can hear it directly from ED's "source of truth".

Atm it seems like a Polychop internal issue, there is no need for ED to respond themselves unless it gets worse imho.

I think some people forget these are not public companies or teams, what happens internally is and should be private.

Tbf information security is generally the responsibility of the respective companies, if information leaks into the public, information security has failed. And the public will discuss it if it's of public interest.

I can understand it if ED doesn't want discussion about leaked internal information (from both ED and their partners) in their own moderated spaces and forums, and they have every right to do so imho. But questions arise nonetheless and should be addressed by Polychop (or ED if necessary).

You are absolutely correct.  If his employees all walked out the door, were fired, or were all abducted by aliens, he doesn't need to tell us.  What he said about his modules working and not dead was true last week and last month.  His assurance that "there's nothing to see here" rings hollow if indeed there's a staffing shortage for whatever reason.  Regardless, at the end of the day, this is a 3rd party private matter.

What troubles me is ED's willingness to let Polychop own the narrative here.  On the one hand they don't want us getting our information from outside this very controlled forum.  Yet, in this case are more than happy to allow a discord post be the source of truth.

I happen to own both PC products and am happy with what I purchased.  Will they continue to work with core DCS over time?  As a crusty old, very experienced public software product executive, I appreciate what Sven is trying to say, yet I also know if his staff is somehow limited, that it only takes one core change to DCS and the house of cards comes tumbling down.

If ED states that are able to keep RB modules not breaking apart without owning any code for the last year and a half, i think keeping Polychop modules in order until Sven hires new people is way easier

Fair.  I feel it boils down to ED's corporate communication policy and assessment of risk.  You either "get in front" of this situation or "react" once it gets worse.

I get what you are saying, but in the end its really only sven that knows wtf is going on, not ED. And its easier for ED to let 3rd party manage their own information flow so to speak, as opposed to having a PR rep on payroll to manage all this.

I think the Razbam situation is outside the norm though as there are solicitors involved and they have to manage information a bit. But I dont see ED muting other 3rd party devs like Heatblur, OneThreeTech ect

What's done is done and the details don't really concern us.
All we are interested in is seeing that in the future the development, adaptations and improvements of Polychop's two modules, the Gazelle and the Kiowa, will be a reality as announced in their last statement.
As a customer, that's all I ask...
As a regular user of Kiowa since the release, improvements are necessary and expected, and that's the only doubt I have since today's crisis... 🤔

*sigh*

@BIGNEWY, you're damned good at your job, it's not one I'd wish on my worst enemy, and I get there's nothing more you can say...but it's not our collective first rodeo either.

There is space for yet another of these little moments of excitement to flare up because of poor communication, not because of poor information. Same as every time you have to firefight the latest drama.

Most of us work for private companies. It's how we pay for ED and 3rdP products. We get it. We haven't forgotten, it's just irrelevant to the real issue behind all this stuff every time it happens.

It's not the money.

It's not the product.

It's not even the crisis-of-the-moment.

It's the information management.

Every time.

You could say it's not ED's problem, but these discussions keep happening on ED's turf, and keep impacting their bottom line.

Polychop's inability to keep a team together is Polychop's problem, true...

...and it's an ED problem...

...and (because of emotional more than financial investment in their products) it's a me problem.

So here I am, engaging as best I can; here's ED with the good ole "nothing to see here" and a contractor with a textbook "everything's fine".

Competitor companies do better than this.

our customer base does not mislead, at most a handful of people do. If that is something people want to follow there is no way to stop them.

Again Sven has reassured people that the modules will continue to work with DCS. He will know how best to manage his team.

thank you

LOL he doesn't have a team mate, they all resigned due to his leadership, it's stated in that release some devs will continue to work on the modules, a skeleton crew is in place.

By calling the source of information pretty much a shyt stirrer/drama merchant is piss poor in my view, ED used him as one of their SME's for the Apache, making personal disparaging remarks about him isn't a good look for you..

And after all the drama with RB, and their CEO's comments, which half the camp didn't believe, and ED themselves had an issue with, why should we believe what Polychop CEO Sven has to say?

It's dissapointing from a customer point of view, you need to understand that...

Im trying to find the stone tablets that decree every 3rd party developer will be a solvent business in a niche market and will be around for the next 1000 years to support their modules but I seem to have misplaced them....

You're confusing a certain Reddit entity with Casmo who just forwarded the original post . The latter wasn't meant as the "stirrer".

Being a customer doesn't entitle you to know any inside affairs, sorry. Imaging every buyer of a Toyota/Ford/Mercedes to have detailed information about the inner affairs of the company and its suppliers/subcontractors.... in Real-Time.....🤣

I think Casmo is just invested in the Kiowa for several reasons and therefore felt the need to forward the news (even if unchecked at that point). I don't know the guy personally obviously, but from his public appearences he didn't strike me as a somebody who is interested in drama.

If person A posts it people defend it and if person B posts it people agree that it is a really bad thing from a bad person.

I think people who read the original post by person B are primed to look at it with suspicion and dismissal.

Dear all, Sven of Polychop has made a statement on this, which you have all seen and I will share once again.

Quote

Dear Community,

After recent events and "news" I first of all want to thank each one of our customers and partners for the trust and support during the recent times.

As some of you may have noticed, there has been some speculation regarding Polychop and our modules.

I would like to calm any concerns and reassure you that the modules are neither gone nor “dead.” They will continue to work in future updates.

Unfortunately, I cannot share more details on the current matter at this time, and I hope for your understanding.

Best regards,
Polychop Sven

There is nothing to discuss here on this subject, it is internal and private. This is a support forum for our products and that is all that we need to discuss on this. If something new comes up and Sven thinks it's important for all of you to hear it, it will be announced on their Discord I am sure. But for now, let's please not turn this into something it is not, let's not play to the handful of people who are looking for DCS to fail, and let them sort all this out.

All other discussions on this topic will be removed unless, as I said above there is something important to discuss.

Thank you
NineLine/Norm
