ED Team NineLine Posted March 25 ED Team Posted March 25 Hey guys, this thread should be about the terrain itself, Ugra doesn't make units if there are units you want to see I suggest the DCS Core Wishlist section, thanks. https://forum.dcs.world/forum/1027-dcs-wish-list/ 7 2 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
MAESTR0 Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Hi fighters There were questions about air defense locations. @Northstar98Yes, on the map you will find places for installing air defense systems: somewhere it will be a cleared area, somewhere hills for radar or prepared territory for an air defense complex. This is done so that you (or mission designers) can place air defense objects and interact with them. @Stratos we wrote about this: if we do this, then after phase 3 - all efforts are now directed to the map. Add wishes, what units are needed, as NineLine recommended. @draconus yes, flags react to the wind, so you will always know its direction Lass uns ein bisschen fliegen 15 4

Stratos Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Thanks for the info. Hope you guys can at least add the civilian cars and trucks at least as static objects. 3 I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!

One question regarding the Shelters at the FRG airbases like Buchel. The Shelters look a bit odd, unless they're still WIP. Do you have reference pictures from that time frame? The ones we have since at least the last 30 years or longer don't have any edges, as the frames are roundish. Also it looks like the doors (4 per shelter) are missing, and I don't think they were open at the back. Just something that I noticed, Spangdahlem for example looks perfect. Cheers @MAESTR0, any news you are able to announce regarding this post? 2 1

There is one highly unrealistic thing, though, in Leipzig: the weather. It should always be damp, with a slow drizzle and discouragingly low clouds. At least that's how I remember it from my two visits there Hopefully they will recreate the country's typical pollution around industrial areas. 3 Hals- und Beinbruch... Christian | Spitfire | Bat-21

Pollution was really bad back then. Like in "apocalyptically bad". It would add to the immersion, I think. Every Ossi old enough to remember it, might get a dose of PPSD (post pollution stress disorder) whilst flying over Leuna... 2
MAESTR0 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 (edited) Hi fighters Let's continue getting to know the map. Hannover is the capital of Lower Saxony and one of the main cities in central Germany. The city is a major junction for railway lines and autobahns, connecting major European lines in the east–west (Berlin–Ruhr area/Düsseldorf/Cologne) and north–south (Hamburg–Frankfurt/Stuttgart/Munich) directions. The landmark of Hanover is the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus). The height of the dome of the town hall with an observation deck is almost 100 meters (97.73 m). An elevator ascends to the observation deck at the top of the large dome along a variable angle of up to 17 degrees, thought to be unique in the world. One of Hanover's most grandiose sights is the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, consisting of four parts, which are known as the Grosser Garten, Berggarten, Georgengarten and Welfengarten. Hannover Airport A large civilian hub with long runways. Located 11 km north of central Hannover From 1957 to 1990, the airport hosted the Internationale Luft und Raumfahrtausstellung, Germany's largest air show. In a conflict, it could have become a strategic point for the transfer of NATO forces. Wunstorf Air Base, 30 km west of Hannover. A key hub for the transfer of troops, equipment and supplies in the event of a conflict with the Warsaw Pact. It will add scenarios for you: from protecting transport aircraft to attacks deep into enemy territory, and maybe one day you will take a seat in a C130 and personally deliver cargo to this base. Make a map for: fighters..............OK attack aircraft.......OK helicopters...........OK transport aircraft....OK ground vehicles.......OK ... Edited March 28 by MAESTR0 20 3

Apart from GSFG everyone has a counterpart for the former, but not for the latter: GDR are missing the KPz T-72/M/M1 (largely similar to the T-72 Ural/Ural-1 and A) British are missing Challenger 1 (the Chieftain not a Mk.3 is however a fairly decent contemporary of the 1A3) US are missing the M1 and M1IP. GSFG has nothing at all (missing the T-62, T-64A/B/BV and T-80/B/BV) Of course we do have stand-ins but from a historical perspective, we aren't well covered in this aspect. A similar thing could be said of Eastern Bloc APCs (chiefly missing the BTR-60PB/SPW-60PB though it's relevant capabilities aren't that great a difference between it and the BTR-80). Onto things more relevant for DCS and aerial warfare, early warning radars are absolutely lacking - we only have the AN/FPS-117 for NATO and it's not relevant to the theatre for the timeframe. The Warsaw Pact only have the P-19, which is mostly just an SA-3 acquisition radar though has seen use as a PVO-SV early warning radar. The SA-2 and SA-5 are still without appropriate acquisition radars (though at least the P-19 doesn't significantly compromise the SA-2s range) and even stuff like the Tin Shield (which has seen use as a general-purpose EWR, in-fact that's primarily how it's used IRL) cannot be used as one in DCS. How are you going to be able to tell the difference between an M1A1 and a M1IP or a T-80U vs a T-80BV from an aircraft in flight? if anything the more important assets would be a Nike Hercules and an SA-4 4

WolfCat Posted March 29 Posted March 29 @MAESTR0 Noob question here. I see the map (phase?) boundaries are angled. How will this work? The map won't be North-South aligned in game? Or is that the boundary of higher detailed parts only? Thanks in advance. CPU: i7-4790k; RAM: 32GB HyperX@1866Mhz; GPU: MSI RTX 3070; SSD: WDBlue something

On the map, you can take a break from combat sorties and visit small airfields scattered throughout the territory. Meditate while admiring the hot air balloons at dawn or sunset — or join their flight. There are also aerobatic routes and even a special area for practicing aerobatics. Visit the flying club with friends, take a Yak-52 / Eagle — and off to new adventures! Bremspropeller Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) There's a good chance the civvy airfields would have been used in conflict, so they're only semi-civvy. Now imagine having a Do-27 (or other army aviation fixed wing aircraft) with some logistical/liasion job oreven rocket launchers/ gunpods/ light bombs under the wings. Other contenders would be a T-6 (the original one), a T-28 or maybe a Broussard. Edited March 29 by Bremspropeller 4 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
