Bird Strike Improvements

Fully aware there is a slider to increase chances of bird strikes but it would be nice to know you had a bird strike minus one of your engines just going out randomly. I have a lua script to tell a player if they had a bird strike but other then that you're just flying along and your engine goes out. No other signs visually or audible of a bird strike. 

Some ideas:
- Visually see the bird before impact or flock of birds to avoid them.
- Visual bird marking on aircraft(blood).
- some kind of audible noise like a thud on impact or your engine taking a bird.

Next level:
- A way the mission editor can implement bird density areas and altitudes.
- Canopy damage or bird bouncing off with the sound effect to follow   VR users would crap themselves 

But seriously please make a change to the current system, having your engine go out randomly without any indication it was a bird strike is weird.

With the script, could you have it play a sound file of a thud?  As a pilot, it is quite possible to have a bird strike and not even realize it.  

If it went in the engine, you'd absolutely know it though...

At least make it implemented for all aircraft becuase currently I've ever got one only in FC3 birds.

Thanks for the information. If you have the script, I guess it's possible to extract information about that event somehow and exclude other causes.

I honestly don’t see why bird strikes are a thing in DCS. They would be so rare that they aren’t worth modeling. I’ve had one happen in 13 years. Certainly they aren’t worth the effort to “improve”. ED doesn’t have the resources for that.

Because this is supposed to be the premier flight simulator? You can make it less rare if you increase the percentage slider. But I forgot this is just a wish list post that will get overlooked within a couple days just like 98% of the posts here.

Nja... I'd say many great wishes have been fulfilled in the past years, it takes time though.

The premier flight simulator? Well it certainly doesn’t have a premier budget, it’s more like a struggling niche game. It takes years to accomplish even simple things here, I can’t imagine birds are a very high priority for most players.

But there are no plans to add physical birds for bird strikes currently.

Well, in June 1982 a crane brought down an RNoA F-16A. F-16.net has it recorded as a goose, while that's incorrect.
