CPU runs +20° hotter in idle after update to 2.9.16.10523.

Each owner of the server would have to be the ones to make that decision, not ED. As for cores around 80c will depend on a number of things. What is your CPU? What is your idle (pre-DCS launch) temps, your temps in menu. Are you air cooled, AIO, custom water? Depening on some of those factors will determine your temps. Also, what is a temp of another DX11/12 game that you have that will push your system/graphics?

The point is pre patch the game didnt run at 70c plus at the home menu and everything was running about 20c cooler or more for the people posting here in game prior to the patch that just released.

My pc specs are

Ryzen 9 5950 + AIO 360mm
RTX 3080 GPU

I used to run DCS anywhere from 55c to 60c and after the latest patch my temps go all the way up to 70c in the menu and up to 80c in a mission while using the F10 map.

And before someone says that 80c is a fine temp for a CPU, I know it won't melt my PC but the fact is that there is a 20c bump in temps since the lastest patch so something is clearly wrong with it.

On the GPU side I see normal temps or even slightly better temps than before but the difference is 1 or 2 degrees.

I'm part of this too. My fans are going nuts and my water cooler is too. Even when I'm on the carrier deck. When I get back on tonight I will post some pics.

At this point it's reported and BigNewy has said the dev's have reproduced it, so not sure what purpose more pics will actually serve.  It's an issue, for some, and ED is working on it.

Can confirm I'm also having this problem on my AMD system.

Getting 70 plus degrees at idle in the main menu with the current version, vs 40 degrees in the menu with the most recent previous version.

If anybody needs it, I had ChatGPT make me a command prompt to revert to the previous version, which I can confirm worked for me:

@echo off
cd /d "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin"
DCS_updater.exe update 2.9.15.9599.1@openbeta
pause

I think people get really confused, the temperature is not the problem. If your CPU is being used to 30-50% and already runs 90+C, then your cooling sucks. A game cant make your CPU run hotter for the same work.

The actual problem is just a DCS performance issue, for some reason even sitting in the main menu it creates a ton of CPU usage. See this weird spikey graph:

so i am seeing similar to this in my AMD 9800x3d in main menu, what i am not seeing is a massive temperature increase as described by other users

For those who don't want to go back to an older version and have a powerful PC and a problem with temperatures. Temporarily lower the turbo boost on the processor in the bios or turn it off. Those who don't go into the bios can achieve a similar result in windows in the power options and reduce the cpu performance % I have 99% and turbo is turned off. Frequency drops from 4.9Ghz to 3.7Ghz temperature 70C to 36C.

I have not even looked at temps but my 5800x3d is running more cores at 100% whilst anecdotally it feels like it is taking longer (which is why I looked)

the picture shows why you have no problem your cpu is evenly loaded. My cpu is not evenly loaded until the previous patch two cores were loaded to 100% in the current version it is three cores at 100%. And here it depends what cpu you have and what operating system you use. My cpu with win 10 when loaded with 3 cores at 100 will drive the frequency to max frequency and thus experience a temperature and power spike. And I have Noctua NH-D15 cooling and 5 fans take care of air circulation in the case.
