How many troops will we be able to load on the C130? We should be able to drop some serious infantry fire power into the combat zone, and what about that 150 knot flying rescue they use to do where they snatched people off the ground.

Now that would be great if we could do that

I thought the C-130J was scheduled for release in late 2025 (that's what it was said), so something like November or December?

Was it supposed to be earlier?

I'm betting on December with a good chance of moving into January. DCS always has to expect the worst. 🤣

I'm here deciding whether to buy the C-130J or Battlefield 6. Tough choice!

Looks amazing and would love to purchase but please could I double check the module size. Have I misread 200Gb?

The size of the module isn't metioned in the store yet. The 200GB are the minimum requirement of DCS.

E.g. the MiG-29A also shows those 200GB in the minimum requirements but mentions a module size of less than 3GB.

Another aircraft I'd love to have in DCS is the P-3 Orion. It would be very welcome!

The P-3 or even an S-2 would be amazing, as well as some Navy helicopters like the MH-60/HH-60 series or a SH-2 for example.

However, I think the whole ASW scene would need serious development before any modules could exist, for starters there would need to be underwater topography and a seascape developed for each map, then sonar principles and war ship AI logics would need to be created, only with those minimum requirements could ASW be truly "simulated" or modeled in DCS and various modules.

Hopefully someday that all become a reality along with ship modules!

Pre-ordered! Thank you for your hard work.

This will be one hell of a flight experience. Despite the perception, that there's not "much to do for a C-130J in DCS" I can't wait to do all those things we will be able to do! From supply drops, combat landings on improvised short runways, cargo delivery on a dynamic multiplayer server, to the MC-130J and infil and exfil of SpecOps teams behind enemy lines or in the Hindukush mountains in weather and at night...

And the impressions from the pre-order trailer are awesome.

Really looking forward to this gem! 😍

YES!

The C-130 is #1 on my list. Keep your Typhoons and Tornados, I want my Hercules. 😀

Another good super 3d model. It looks really good. Everyone knows the free mod from this team and what you could already do there. But will this module now help or improve the gameplay?
I don't think so

- can you fly as a Tanker for the Eurofighter?

ok . i read all 😉  "AFSOC, brings aerial refueling capabilities, including player-to-player AAR in multiplayer"

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but how many crewmembers can occupy each C-130 and which positions?  TIA!

From the info, looks like 2 initially, with a 3rd planned after initial release.

Presumably Pilot, Co-pilot, loadmaster.

No.  I would say they under-promised and over-delivered.  They've said "by the end of 2025" many times.  Reading between the lines on what they've posted over time, I've always assumed it was going to be sooner than that and they were making sure they didn't miss a date.

No choice for me. 😉 My DCS modules last me their lifetime. FPS games I get bored and put aside after a much shorter period. Plus - I have been waiting for this for some time! Can't wait to see how much it adds to what DCS can already do from a dynamic MP environment, not to mention what it will mean for the DCE - which IIRC was hinted to be released later this year as well?

I'm 90% sure I'll get the C-130J first. It's scheduled for October if things go well. Battlefield 6 is also scheduled for October 10th. Of course, all in 2025.

Often it works the other way around, i.e. you have a specific period and you have to add another quarter or more to it. If it’s the other way around in this case everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

Does anyone know if the new air-dropping is a DCS core feature or proprietary ASC thing embedded in the module?  Are we likely to see it incorporated into the CH-47, or AI DC-3, IL-76, C-17 etc?

Also, will the cargo be functional or just cosmetic?  Will dropping ammunition actually provide a rearming function in the same way placing ground logistics vehicles does?

No, thanks.

Two years ago I'd have probably bought it just to support the developers, but now after Razbam debacle I'm much less enthusiastic about spending money on DCS.

I mean it'll be like 50% off on it's release out of EA by 2031 if you can wait that long. It only took three years from announcement to EA.

Go get the mod, do the start-up, fly and try an assault landing in a tennis court. See what you miss, watch in the videos what is already done.

Just give a new 3rd party a chance.

The Razbam funeral has been going on for years in the licensed-third-party-projects/RAZBAM section.
