OutLaw51 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 hi all i was in a server today panzers 159th training server when i was allways getten message (warning under attack) there was a chopper on my left which was locking on to me. i was in the hover lineing up some targets when this NOOB blocked me firing on the targets. am sorry to say i got kicked for shooting this Noob down
Panzertard Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 You might have been in his line of fire - if he was lasing something directly ahead of you and you were caught in the middle? Still, it was only a lock, wasnt it - he wasnt firing? You have to expect people to do things like this in a training session though :) But you shouldnt expect to get shot down of course. And hence the server kicks if you do shoot at players on your own team. It's a 15 minute timeout / cooloff period - as long as you dont repeat it 3 times you shouldnt recieve a ban. Dont be cruel to fresh pilots - they may end up as your friends one day or in the same squad as you, you know :) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

EtherealN Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 To be honest, the more "nooby" thing that happened in the situation described is that someone got upset about another player making a mistake on a training mission. There's a good proverb to use in situations like that: when in doubt, assume benevolence. Until there is direct evidence that the person is doing it on purpose, don't be agressive or you'll just start unecessary conflict. Instead, see if the individual needs some assistance in handling his aircraft and systems, and if so, help him. That's how you make friends - and making friends is how you get people to fly on your wing. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
OutLaw51 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 well i normaly fly on servers and i allways say HI to everyone on the server. am not in the habbit of shooting any player but when its me thats locking up targets and then this NOOB flys around then sits his/her chopper right infront of my chopper looking into my cockpit so theres no way i was in his/her line of fire as he sat his/her chopper right infront of me as i was locking targets.
GGTharos Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 So throw the stick to the side and aim around him already. Man. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
topol-m Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 ...when this NOOB blocked me firing on the targets. am sorry to say i got kicked for shooting this Noob down 10 x Lol I bet he didn`t expect to be shot down  A hell of a way to deal with noobs  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

That's normal even in RL situations so no need to shoot at anyone in the future situations. I'd hold my horses, relax a bit, I'd take a walk in the park and go feed the swans...anger management, stress relief. :D 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JG14_Smil Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I am glad you got kicked for the TK.. as it should be. I bet you were a noob once too.

Respect it and if he is annoying there are other ways of telling people instead of starting to shoot at it. Or try to explain the "noob" that he is locking into you and it's annoying. Starting to make FF and TK it's not nice and you sure deserve the kick. Plus this is not the kind of software where you would say noob. I bet you do not know the 4th item on the Before Start Engine checklist or what to do in a main hydraulics failure, so that makes you a noob right? Or there is some standard for being a noob at this? Just my two cents trying to tell you to respect other people so they can respect you, someone said that you know how to deal with noobs, I say that you probably learn the lesson, guess you ruin your fun session on 159th server just because of that noob, guess you didn't know what was coming in your way. Kuky Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 See I am of the opinion noob or not, even if it's a training session there are specifically set targets in the mission.. this is what this guy should be training to shoot at, not the other guys in the server. There's a time and place for learning and if you want to learn something online (this sentence is for anyone fiting this category) you really should get on someone's comms, but of course also tell them beforehand that you'd like to join their comms and that you are new and need to learn. I too don't like it when I am doing something (sometimes also learning or training) then get someone from like this to at least distract and anoy me... fair point? nemises Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 all it takes is slewing over the chopper next to you though and ranging them to give off an "under attack" warning... Nevil Noob doesn't necessarily realise this.. Cut them some slack, and use it as a chance to help a guy out. ...of course if he keeps on doing it over and over without aknowledging your messages...well, thats another story
Boneski Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Fail My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

159th_Viper Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 As prudent with all things annoying, establish whether the Behaviour causing the annoyance can be dealt with in a Civil manner, ie Politely request the Player to cease the behaviour in question. Should no response be gotten, attempt to establish whether there is a server admin online and report the issue, although by now he will in all probability be well aware of the circumstances with his mouse hovering over the 'Kick' button. If no Server Admin present, note the Call-Sign of the Player and report the behaviour to the Squad/Host concerned. As a last resort, take a deep breath, count to ten and take up position well away fom the offending individual and go about your business again in relative solitude. Should you thereafter be unfortunate enough to be plagued by the same individual again, then by all means Flick the Master Switch and select Cannons. Would however advise that your Aerial Gunnery Skills are honed in that it would be better to Surgically remove a Wing/Tail, thus forcing your Target Drone to land and repair, hopefully giving him a wee bit more time to contemplate the error of his ways and ensuring you do not get kicked after an exercise in Patience ending in Frustration followed by 30mm-Induced Euphoria! NNG_Laser Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) Pfffffff, you dont wan t to show bad players, teamkillers on our forums... OK... So i post an MP to admin server... I hope a result! Edited September 2, 2009 by NNG_Laser
Acedy Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 BTW, if a server uses the latest ServMan version and has the chatlog enabled, you can send a "private message" to the admin ingame, using the "/report:msg" command, where msg is your message. The message will be written to the chatlog and labeled as a report, and it won't be visible to other players. OutLaw51 Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 well it looks like am the NOOB here as i dont know the proper startup. but i do now how to behave on a server with other guys flying around as for all this Sh** i was the one doing what the server says on the tin TRAINING. This guy/lassie was the one that was messing about theres ways and means of training rather than sit in my computer room with single player running I like to join MP and do CO-OP with other player's but this time I was taken to be a NOOB as by the way this guy/lassie was flying he/she wasnt he/she wasnt so NOOBS get treated like SH** when there trying to learn the sim. Well if am in a training MP server again and this happends i will do the same thing cos it was brill just thinking about what his face would have been like getten his A** shot off 1
GGTharos Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I guess server owners will know to ban you outright then, since you cannot behave. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
OutLaw51 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 so if am doing what the server says and this other guy starts his SH** am the one that get banned for not behaven when am doing what the server says ie TRAINING what a load of SH**
Kuky Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 If someone is doing something bad and you follow his bad actions then it doesn't make you a good guy any more... so alright you got angry because of something... like others have said, report the individual to the server admin or squad forums... he'll be dealt with (normally). WOrst case scenario.. you change the server. flask Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 When this sort of thing happens to me, I mean someone hell bent on mucking you around or shooting at you( and it has done) I find it best to do is note the offenders callsign down, screen shot if possible, then a re start n take off and try and keep away from the TK'r if he comes again? I go look on another server for to fly, Unfortunatly atm there is not much else you can do but report the incident if there are no admin around, but I will say retaliation is not recomended as it moves you from "Innocent party to the Incident" to "party to the incident" if you react to the guy by doing what he did, you are playing his game and imo lowering yourself to his level. But I would like to add that more and more squads are co operating as to compiling " offerders list's" and activly are trying to stamp this kind of bad behaviour out,and kudos to them for that.
RaH Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Listen it's like 159th_Viper said, I've been a game server admin well over 10 years now, and I've seen all types of players. You get the n00b's which I classify in several ways, yes I do have a good n00b classification. A good n00b is one in which you described, that actually goes into a training server to train with other pilots, even vet pilots do this. Then there is the bad n00b this n00b is the insidious griefer. This player is so vile, they have played the game and are fairly accomplished pilots, who find themselves bored with honing their skill and find it more fun to go into a Training server expecting to ruffle a few feathers. Who knows why, angst, boredom, brain dead? Your guess is as good as mine. When that happens admins are quick to spot it and quick to react. Even though an incident may occur, a kick should not be immediately what is required to remedy the situation, benefit of the doubt sounds like it was given to the offender, you getting kick was an unfortunate circumstance of the incident, but crying foul does nothing to help the situation. Learning from the incident does, there are tons of servers, tons of places to play, good servers with good admins are rare if you find one you respect the rules, you respect the admins and other players. Follow that ideology and there are few servers you will find yourself kicked from.
Kurtz Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 At the end of the day if you dont have noobs on servers the community will not grow, and multiplay part of this game will stagnate and die like any other. Best option is to invite noobs into your comms channel so they know whats going on. Other than that you should organise clan, or mission nights once a week and lock the server up for a couple of hours. We used to do this with Red Orchestra a few years ago. We would plan a set mission/battle within the forum, then just contact the server admin and request a lockup time and map(miz in DCS). The battle was open to both clans and public players. The only condition was that you had to be on comms, and generally follow the clan leaders orders, during the lockup thats all. The concept of including public players in clans battles proved very popular with the community and clans often retained selected public players. Giving noobs a chance to see how organised clans or squadrons operated was also good for the game. We also found that servers that offered up themselves as a host for these battles remained populated throughout the week. Noobs welcome I say, just try and get them on comms :)
