It is looking to become a great module but as a strictly SP player I am wondering what I can do with it? I read there are going to be some dynamic missions but are the single player usable? How dynamic are they? I get bored with scripted missions fast because they become predictable fast even if certain elements are randomized.

I would like some info in this regard.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that'll be the case, the mission creator community in DCS is super creative in this regard.

Like every mission set, at some point things will get repetitive. Instead of "fly here, kill everything, fly there, kill everything, rearm and refuel, rinse and repeat" it'll eventually be "fly here, drop cargo, land there, offload cargo, go over there, pick up new cargo, rinse and repeat".

Today, DCS already detects destroyed units and provides players with a score. With cargo and paratroopers, for the time being mission designers will probably have to do more work to score the player for a well executed drop, but I think there will be a lot of missions to do just that.

Eventually I hope DCS will offer more native support for such actions, which in turn would make it easier for mission creators to score players and in turn allow them more time to flesh out cool, challenging and engaging scenarios.

Yeah, same here. I just don't think there'll be much difference between the above described mission sets. So here's to hoping the community will come up with lots of great content for the Herc, which I'm sure will be the case!

I'm sure it will be integrated into DCS Retribution/Liberation sooner or later. In a way so that we could create campaigns centered around logistics.

Yes I read on Discord that they are looking into it (also because of the warehouse changes by ED) but logistics is a completely new addition and requires major changes to the code. Have to wait and see.

Until logistics becomes and integral element I think I am going to hold off (just like the Chinook).

You're going to transport troops and cargo, a lot, day and night, all year round and you're going to love it. You'll air drop cargo or paratroopers (when implemented) too. If you get lucky you'll get to drop a single MOAB. That's it.

Then don't play the same missions.

I only play SP and for me it is Assault Landings. I have been doing it for years with the Mod and never got bored.

And in what mission are you doing this please?

What use is the Huey? Or Chinook?

You dodge enemy fire while delivering goods.

Later you'll do paradrops.

Or mabye you just want to do hardcore milsim delivering cargo from one side of the map to the other. I feel this is an excellent module for those that normally fly airliners in that civilian sim.

Now they can do basically the same but also dodge MANPADS

The use of this plane in SP is... to have fun flying. Enjoy the plane. Enjoy the maps. Just have fun flying.

I was going from yonder here to yonder there on the South Atlantic map with the C-130 and it was some top tier flightsim fun. Nice contrast to the fast little jets we usually fry around in. Good fun going from the C-130 to the F-16 and back again. Really great that DCS offers this kind of variety and in such high quality modules.

To me DCS is a flightsim first and a combat flightsim second. But I understand that's not everyone's way of looking at it.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

In mission templates with FARPS and shooting ranges I've been editing for years until I ran out of time to polish them or update the mod soup.

I don't have the time to clean them of mods or add the items and info that would make them worth sharing. If this changes I would let you know.
