I ask the same question again. What makes the saitek stand out before the logitech g940? If the price of 500 Euro is right then the 200 Euro over the g940 must have something that makes the Saitek so much better. You don't even get any rudder pedals with the saitek and 500 Euros is lots of money, I even think that 300 Euros for the G940 is a bit over the edge but then you get rather much for the money.

Just the promising price, at the moment. Everything else we've seen so far looks glamorously, but that's not what makes anything better.

Anyone know if the Saitek will be released with that device on the throttle? (red switch, green screen and silver knobs)

I guess the other blanking plate is where you start to build your Pro Flight Instrument Panel set up. The Saitek has good potental but all that could be lost by a crappy FFB mechanism.:joystick:

Where do you get the 300€ myth from? At least in Austria, stores sell it for 250-260 (apart from Amazon, which indeed sells it for 300).

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Clever of Saitek - now folks will think twice about getting the Logitech stick with the promise of a better Saitek around the corner.

Yeah but nearly twice the price. Its not for everybody.

The price has not been set, yet. You cannot simply translate prices from one currency to another and there was no official statement from Saitek, yet. Please remember: The only shots shown above are leaked. Neither the pictures nor the price-evaluations are official news.

Just the new picture presented by the IP is official news and that still contains no information whatsoever.

hannibal, do you have any sort of write up posted online about that USB mod to the Suncom SFS? I have one, and am thinking about converting the set. Did you use one of Leo Bodnar's boards, or ???

no, i did not use a Leo Bodnar board..

i bought a used CH flight sim yoke, gutted the eletronics and threw it into the suncome talon...

i chose CH, because th programming software allows me to do more with it...especially since i added a mini joystick to it, which has reduced deflection (i do not get full range of the pot), so the ch control manager sotware allows me to adjust that...or change it up, what ever i want..

You are correct about the list price, but any decent computer store will sell it well below that (at least in austria they do).

I am really sorry, I was so sure I saw it on the swedish site but now when I look I must have looked at the US site or something cause it says 299$ and I translated it to about 3000 swedish crowns but thats a bit over the edge, maybe 2700 swedish crowns is more likely. I need to check with logitech sweden when this might be released here.

Thats true. The list price on the swedish logitech site for the G25 wheel is 3999 swedish crowns and you can buy this for less then 2500 swedish crowns from other sellers.

it seems most retailers go for around 3000 SEK right now. According to prisjakt.nu the cheapest place in sweden is a store called multitronic that sells it for 2917kr. Not exactly as cheap as I would have hoped =/

Aye

I would love to know what exactly was behind that marketing Strategy

I could see that it would obviously find appeal in the Falcon Community.....but again, how much people who would entertain such an 'exclusive' product have not already got the 'Real' thing, ie the Cougar with attendant FSSB Mod.

Personally - not gonna Happen. Have not even the slightest desire to entertain the notion of purchase as it will effectively be Useless for any Airframe currently on the Market and Modelled to the Requisite Degree of Fidelity to occupy my Time. And that's not even having regard to future releases, eg SOW:Battle of Britain, DCS:A-10C etc etc.

I have to agree. I was hoping for an alternative to the logitech FFB and we get this. Not listening to what their customers wanted is going to cost Saitek this time. Unless they're working on a FFB behind the scenes......... heres hoping.

I like the logitech setup except for the pedals, I could just not use the pedals but it would be great to use them with my old X-52 HOTAS seeing I'd still use the saitek rudders.

Yeah i would have to agree 100%. I too was expecting something with FFB from Saitek, so no sence in waiting now I may as well go and buy the logitech.

Dont diss the saitek X65F. This concept seems awsome...trully. Plus: unbeatable button list. If it fits the annouced price tag I dont think a modded cougar will be in direct line to compete with this one. Plus modding the cougar is extremely expensive not to mention you cant find mods in stores.

I would have no trouble getting this one for an f-16 at all. Infact I find it much more apealing. My bro uses a modded cougar for the aircorces desktop trainer, he says he doesnt quite like it and its not as precise as he wishes. Oh boy Im gonna tell him about this X65F...

I have already ordered a logitech but this saitek might find its way here too.

I think its all about taste. For the F-16 and a few other fighters this might be more realistic but most simfanatic fly both helis, civilian aircraft and fighters and for that I think the G940 system is more of an all over system for those people.

Anyone else notice that the far left panel on the thruster has changed from the original snapshot which had a green screen?
