Eddie, that's what I thought when I saw this add for the first time. It certainly is no cooincidence that Thrustmaster has choosen the A10C controls as their new HOTAS and that DCS:A10C is due next year.

Considering we saw a pair of TM MFDs in Wags report several weeks before they hit the market, I have no doubt that they share information and work together with their products. After all, the market for simulations is not THAT large - so any productive cooperation is in everybody's interest.

Also, if my memory serves, the TM stick is based on a military offering made to be used with the A10C DTS. Basically, the military wanted to get as close as possible on a PC so they hired TFC/ED for the simulator and TM for the inputs. :)

I think you may be confusing the TM HOTAS with the A-10C HOTAS CH Products showcased to military contractors in December.

Ah, there we go! Thanks for clarifying that one, that does indeed seem to be the case. :)

Am I the only person thinking it's possible that ED gave them a screenshot from A-10C for that ad and we have in fact totally missed it until now? It certainly looks like the case to me.

Thanks for finally saying out loud what I was trying to hint the last few posts =D

It doesn't.

The mentioned "slew control" causing confusion here, is most likely the mini-stick slewing the TDC.

If by chance it had twisted stick for rudder it would say so.

Should be out in early 2010 not 2011

You're Confusing LockOn Platinum with DCS:A-10C ;)

LockOn 2.0: Early 2010 (Personal E.T.A. April 2010)

DCS:A-10C: 2011 (Wishing for Christmas 2010)

There will be a completely new driver and programming software package with the TM Warthog, that is apparently suited to program all modern TM-Equipment (at least the MFDs and new Sticks were mentioned).

DCS: Warthog will be out in 2011? You have any links or are you using that crystal ball again?

Ah, I thought it was the tactical optimists trick:

Estimate a long awaited date as late as possible, so you can be positively surprised when the big day is there early ;)

And in case you're right, well, you still have something to be happy about. :D

More thoughts:

1. If TM is apparently still going ahead with the detachable stick grip concept on the Warthog wouldn't it make sense for them to make an F-15/F-18 stick grip as a later add-on (like the original idea with the Cougar)? Would match the Warthog throttles well, wouldn't it?

2. Will the existing Cougar throttle work if plugged in to the Warthog stick (assuming same PnP style as Cougar)? I'm asking because I notice the F-16 pinkie paddle switch is still present on the Warthog stick, even though the A-10C stick does not have one. Is this what TM is thinking?

In that case I hope we can set more realistic profiles like this:

USE MDEF SUBS F4 realistic.tmm

BTN S1 Missile_Hardpoints_cycle

BTN S2 Weapon_Pickle

BTN TG1 First_Trigger_Detent

BTN TG2 Second_Trigger_Detent

BTN S3 Pinky_Switch

BTN S4 Autopilot

BTN H1U View_Pan_up

BTN H1D View_Pan_down

BTN H1L View_Pan_left

BTN H1R View_Pan_right

BTN H2U TMS_Up

BTN H2D TMS_Down

BTN H2L TMS_Left

BTN H2R TMS_Right

BTN H3U DMS_Up

BTN H3D DMS_Down

BTN H3L DMS_Left

BTN H3R DMS_Right

BTN H4U PGM_Inc_CMS_UP

BTN H4D Jammer_On_CMS_Down

BTN H4L Drop_chaff_CMS_Left

BTN H4R Jammer_Off_CMS_Right

BTN T1 Cursor_enable

BTN T8 MRM_override_mode

BTN T9 Air_brakes_open

BTN T10 Air_brakes_close

BTN T2 UHF_key_chat_mp

BTN T3 VHF_Ventrillo_talk

BTN T7 /U Dogfight_override_mode

/M MRM/DF_override_cancel

/D MRM_override_mode

BTN T6 Sidewinder-Cage/Uncage

MIX 3 (/P Cursor_left_Press /R Cursor_left_Release) ^ (/P Cursor_right_Press /R Cursor_right_Release)

MIY 3 (/P Cursor_down_Press /R Cursor_down_Release) ^ (/P Cursor_up_Press /R Cursor_up_Release)

And heres where I am stuck:

BTN T7 /U Dogfight_override_mode

/M MRM/DF_override_cancel

/D MRM_override_mode

And the reason why sorry not trying to hijack but we do want software that allows 100% realistic profiles:

hotas.jpg

hotas2.jpg

hotas3-1.jpg

hotas4.jpg

hotas5.jpg

I imagine the A-10C Hotas has a similar profile lets hope ED sets TMS/DMS/CMS type functions in the options for buttons as they are likely to have multiple modes and uses like the NWS/ A/R Disc/MSL Step button.

The throttles are different, but close enough for that to be a cool add-on. However, I really doubt TM will invest in a new product without a new F-15/18 sim to pair it with... pretty please, ED?

I'd say that's a stretch... the A-10 does have a pinkie switch of sorts: the SAS/disconnect lever. It's that big yellow thing on the control column. I'd say they were thinking that adding a pinky switch instead of a huge stick base/ and lever was the best compromise between accuracy and practicality.

I got to admit, that I missed your point, SUBS17.

However, if it is, what you noted in your post:

BTN T7 /U Dogfight_override_mode

/M MRM/DF_override_cancel

/D MRM_override_mode

I've got to say, that you missed the point of the /U /M /D modifiers.

What you programmed is a simple switch. You have to do that with e.g. press and release commands:

BTN T7 /P Dogfight_override_mod

/R MRM/DF_override_cancel

BTN T8 /P MRM_override_mode

/R MRM/DF_override_cancel

The /U /M /D modifiers apply to other buttons in case you used the DF-Override-Switch as a modus-switch. In this case, you can add /U /M /D modifiers to other buttons:

BTN T9 /U (function1)

/M (function2)

/D (function3)

In which case T9 performs function1 when DF-Switch is in the up-position and BTN 9 is activated, function2 if the DF-switch is in the middle position and function3 if in the down-position.

Please check the help-file for further details.
