BTW are we europeans get a fixed price for it in Euros?

I ask because I will have to make VISA simulation on my ATM card. Each time I do it I have to allocate a fixed money ammount for the buy.

Cheers.

Dear Wags, Grove and the whole team,

Thanks for this great piece of news!

Long life to LOFC.

I have been flying Lockon since day 1.

I read each post and participated as much as I could for a long time in this forum.

BUT...

I stopped a year ago when I got my TripleHead2Go setup together...

I had been dreaming at other people's screenies and really, when I first got it, I was totally amazed by the level of immersion such a grand sceen and scenery was giving me:

(you can see my post on this topic

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31499&highlight=triplehead

where I explained how to set it up with the help of Joe, ggg87, Teka Teka and Ratcatcher).

But after a while, I gradually left the game aside because of the difficulties generated by the visual limitations (due to insufficient resolutions in the engine). Even when tweaking the config file the way we explained, one still had to zoom out considerably in order to see PART of the flying instruments. And even so, you ended up lying with the head in the windshield... making it very difficult to look for ennemies in the sky...

It was said later that Black shark would solve this issue. I bought Black Shark, of course!, and was very disapointed to see how much of the same problem there was. Oh Yes, they had incorporated a native 3824x1028 res in the setup page, but still, you had to zoom out to see something (which, by the way, has a HUGE impact on frame rates, unfortunatley making my rig unable to cope with the demand...).

I ended up leaving both simulations on the shelf for a while and discovered X-Plane! I must say that it has been quite an experience, because I found that, even the simplest Beaver or the magnificent MU-2 Marquise were quite a challenge to fly, navigate with real life procedures and land with such a realistic flight model... And in terms of TripleHead2Go friendliness, one cannot find better : you fly in beautiful 3D cockpit but still the proportions are normal, you just see more scenery, more real weather, more mountains, on each side!!! (with no frame rates problem).

Now, in my heart, I long for this kind of experience in Lockon... I dont think that DCS BLACK SHARK solved the very wide screen resolution problems AT ALL.

My question is therefore : will this problem be addressed in FLAMING CLIFFS 2.0 ???? Besides, it will be good for widescreen users in general, not only TripleHead freaks...

Thanks in advance for taking the time to patiently answer our questions and bravo again for one of the best customer service in the industry!

amitiés,

This is about Combat primarily not Instrument Flying and Contact flying with cute scenery. So I hope you aren't going to be too upset if that wish doesn't come true. Good luck to you though.*** I sound bad when I say it like that so don't take it wrong. I like cute scenery myself.

I have a Triplehead2Go and deal with the zoom issue as well, but it doesn't make the game unplayable.

Rooster, with the Triplehead2go in LockOn, you primarily see only a big HUD in the screen. You see none of your instruments. Looking down to look at the camera display in the A-10 means you lose site of pretty much everything else. One has to zoom the view almost all the way out to get a realtively decent view of the cockpit.

It can be done though and without a performance hit.

Here is a video that shows my cockpit view in the A-10 in LockOn with the Triplehead2go:

Blackshark works out pretty well for me though. Defintiely no complaints on that. Here's a vid I made in BS to show a friend of mine the sim (sooo long ago lol) http://www.xfire.com/video/dfd6e/

Thank you Rooster...

I know. I have been flying combat sims for many many years (and that makes me older but its OK... I was just sharing the (relatively new) pleasure I had to discover a very hardcore kind of flying.

But you know, in the world of combat, if you can see your ennemy better, or if you can see the ground or air units better, it is great! (it is not cute scenery)... please lets remain respectful.

But if you are flying with your head into the HUD, it is not so good... I just want to make the whole adventure evolve all together, no disrespect to combat flight sim intended!

If Lockon Flaming Cliffs 2.0 BECOMES TripleHead2Go-friendly, it will be amazing for real immersive combat!

In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust...

In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D

Anybody tested this baby on DCS or Lockon ?? :music_whistling:

"The Radeon HD 5970 fully supports triple display (up to 2560x1600 each) Eyefinity configurations. That is, you may run triple displays in Eyefinity and experience your games across three displays fully accelerated by both GPUs. This has been supported in the latest driver we are using and this driver will be available to the public on launch day. However, ONLY the Radeon HD 5970 is supported for dual-GPU Eyefinity acceleration currently. You cannot run HD 5870 CrossFire or 5850 CrossFire and experience dual-GPU acceleration in Eyefinity for now, although we are promised this will be to us soon."

It takes a fool to remain sane

Hi,

looking forward to this product. I've got a few questions about it :

Will multiplayer in flight refuelling be fixed in FC2.0 ?

Will the Vista sound-bug be fixed ?

Will the AMRAAM have longer (correct)legs ?

Thank you.

About AMRAAM, Wags did say its seeker was corrected along more realistic range. So in principle the answer to your question is yes.

But note, other missiles had recieved some loving care as well. :)

Dear all,

Myself and the team are very happy to hear such a positive reception to the new product (nice to finally be able to announce it!). We are reading all the questions and concerns, and I will be posting in update to the FAQ in a week or so to address these.

However, I can tell you now that we plan a disc version of a complete FC 2.0 install (no 1.12 needed) that will use online activation (we will not use a disc check again). This would likely be released in the Spring of 2010. A base copy of Lock On would still be needed.

Thanks,

Matt

great to hear Wags.. I'll look forward to this.

is there a list of the patch process for LOMAC to get it ready for the either the DVD release of 2.0 or the online download?... i have the original disc of LOMAC kicking around and will probably install and patch up in preparation.

Q: Will Flaming Cliffs 2.0 use the same "engine" as Black Shark?

A: It would be more accurate to say that both Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and Black Shark use the same generation of The Fighter Collection Simulation Engine (TFCSE). This was done not only to improve the Flaming Cliffs series in many key areas, but to also allow multi-player compatibility between the two brand series. Given this, they share many things in common, including:

Log Book

Q: Will a combined package of Lock On and Flaming Cliffs 2.0 be released?

A: This is possible and something that is under investigation with Ubisoft (owners of intellectual property rights of Lock On).

I appreciate the effort to approach Ubisoft for this one. A one-click install or DVD with the whole package would be wonderful

Q: Will all Flaming Cliffs 2.0 flyable aircraft now have the Advance Flight Model (AFM) system?

A: The Su-25 and Su-25T most certainly will and will have some performance tweaks. The other aircraft will have the Standard Flight Model (SFM) but will see more realistic performance in regards to such items as climb rates, acceleration, and top speeds.

Excellent.

Q: Has the AIM-120B/C performance been improved?

A: Yes in regards to range, speed, fuze ranges, and counter-counter measure effectiveness. Other missiles have also been improved. In a related manner, ECM burn-through ranges have been moved significantly out and a 15 second ECM warm-up time has been added to address ECM blinking online.

Good to hear for the slammer. I have a question though. Burn-through ranges have been moved significatly out...meaning that ECM will not be able to jam radar as close in as it did before? You will burn-through sooner? Just curious if this range varies between different aircraft.

Q: What are the system specifications for Flaming Cliffs 2.0?

A: The same as for Black Shark. For most users, the game will run faster than Flaming Cliffs 1.12.

I don't get it, if requirements are same as BS as LO, game will slow down... not faster oO

I think what he's saying is that LO will now have the advantage of the optimization you see in BS. I don't know about you, I get MUCH better framerates in Black Shark when flying over large cities. I mean, there's no comparison. I can get extreme frame rates in LO but as soon as I get in the vicinity of a large city....sub 20 FPS. Krasnodar will get as low as 9 FPS! I can fly in this area in BS down at roof-top levels and get a steady 20 to 30. LO should still benefit from higher framerate because you fly higher, but also benefit when you fly lower too.

I also imagine the FC AFM will not consume the same level of CPU resources as BS currently does, therefore increasing FPS.

Hi ED great news and thanks for the update, quick question, has the seeker scan cones of missiles been improved? IIRC the seekers in LOFC are 180 degrees OB?.

• Multiplayer and network code (sorry, no dedicated server yet)
I take it you are not promising anything...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
