Actually, there are wooden furnaces. Depending on how the wood burns (doesn't work with all types ofc) you can create an insulator of burnt wood, and thereby not burn the whole thing down. Same principle as why some types of wood construction materials are more likely to survive a fire (and still carry their alloted structural weight) than steel beams.

 

So, it is thereby established that everything is possible. :D

 

Anyways, don't expect FC2 to be "completely bugfree", expect it to be "finished". There's several meanings to that word - not only in the "we're done" sense but also you can have a "brushed finish" on an aluminium surface. There's a proverb in software engineering - the first 90% of the job takes 90% of the time, and the last 10% takes the other 90% of the time. :P

Currently, there is only support for InfinityDelay. Specs are quite low - a buddy of mine tested it on his iPhone and he is very happy with the way it works.

That doesn't make sense to me. If it will support TripleHead2Go, then it should support Eyefinity. The game only cares what the resolution is, not the hardware driving it.

A: It would be more accurate to say that both Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and Black Shark use the same generation of The Fighter Collection Simulation Engine (TFCSE). This was done not only to improve the Flaming Cliffs series in many key areas, but to also allow multi-player compatibility between the two brand series. Given this, they share many things in common, including:

• Map and airbases

• Multiplayer and network code (sorry, no dedicated server yet)

• Log Book

• Encyclopedia

• AI units and AI actions

• Track file system

• Options

• Mission Editor

• Campaign Editor

• Modding openness

• World lighting and shadowing

From Flaming Cliffs 2.0 Upgrade FAQ:

 

Q: What if I do not have a copy of Flaming Cliffs to upgrade to Flaming Cliffs 2.0?

A: Likely in the Spring of 2010 we will release Flaming Cliffs 2.0 of DVD. This version will be a complete Flaming Cliffs 2.0 install but will still require Lock On to be first installed. You can purchase Lock On at: http://www.kengray.co.uk/lockonbuy.htm

 

Meaning, Yes, in all cases. It has to be due to the legal obligations. ED cannot develop "standalone" FC for Western market, instead it has to be "addon" for LOMAC, demanding the purchase of LOMAC.

 

This is not the case for ex-USSR market, as there you can buy standalone FC11 (I have one of those), that does not need a previous installation of LOMAC.

No, the controllable planes are only available for their assigned nations. In Black Shark, ED had decided to make the Ka-50 available to other nations specifically for head-to-head multiplayer as no other controllable aircraft is available. In FC2, there is no such problem and players can choose aircraft of opposing coalitions.

I have basic LOMAC on dvd I bought from a store, have no credit cards and have never made an online purchase before. My internet connection is not reliable for large downloads, it's wireless, can get expensive and is just for browsing. Also I live all the way in Australia.

 

Your FAQ mentioned a dvd release eventually that can be installed over basic LOMAC complete, without earlier FC versions.

 

Will this be commercially released so that I can order it from my local games store? Otherwise how should I order the dvd release when available? I suspect it may cost AU$30-50 doing it this way but totally worth it.

Well, 1 hour of Silent Hunter 5 was enough for me to mutter, "what a load of……", put the DVD on my “maybe in a year when enough patches and proper documentation come out”, shelf, and to move my sleeping bag back into this queue.

 

UBI Romania must be getting shafted from the producers over release dates as SH5 is in even more of a mess than 3 or 4 ever were. The manual/pamphlet is a joke and the .pdf is just the pamphlet!!

 

No wonder ED told UBI to, “Shov*@[EDIT]….kindly remove your towel from my deckchair good chap”.

I plan on ordering my copy from here. Pretty sure this is where I got my manuals from (FC and BS). They are based up at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford Airfield, Cambes, UK. Which reminds me I must pay another visit to Duxford soon. It's been a good 4 years since was last there. :thumbup:
