RichardG Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'd like to buy this game. Is there a starforce free version available yet? I will not install starforce on my system.
golfsierra2 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 To answer your question: No. Lock-On FC and Starforce are Siamese Twins. Besides that, I have Lock-On FC on my PC (DL version) and have no problems with it at all. What are your concerns about SF ? kind regards, Raven.... RipKirby Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Lock-On FC and Starforce are Siamese Twins. Ugly twins. :music_whistling:
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted February 2, 2010 ED Team Posted February 2, 2010 I'd like to buy this game. Is there a starforce free version available yet? I will not install starforce on my system. As far as i've heard, with Flaming Cliffs 2, there wont be any starforce installed on your system. It's just an online check using starforce. And that's harmless ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
159th_Viper Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I will not install starforce on my system. Then you're in Luck ;) As GA said - wait till LockOn 2.0 (3-6 months guesstimate) and you'll be Good to Go  Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Ali Fish Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) LO and FC at present have starforce correct ? does FC2.0 uninstall starforce ? i was under the impression this update to LO/FC was dependant on the earlier versions being installed atleast for the download version of FC2.0. i guess Fc2.0 doesnt require starforce in any way, shape or form. but the overall product has installed starforce at some stage, prior to any DVD standalone version. Apologies if my understanding is mis-understanding. Edited February 2, 2010 by Ali Fish [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Thunderbird Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Then you're in Luck ;) As GA said - wait till LockOn 2.0 (3-6 months guesstimate) and you'll be Good to Go  another 3 to 6 months
Frostie Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 another 3 to 6 months  Nope, it was a guesstimate so that means 3-6 months give or take 3-6 months.;) "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 51st PVO "BISONS" Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org
Aeroscout Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Nope, it was a guesstimate so that means 3-6 months give or take 3-6 months.;) Unfortunately, that sounds about right. We rarely get straight answers when it comes to release dates. as stated, FC 2.0 will be like Blackshark in that nothing will be installed, though starforce software is still used. That said. I have had no issues with starforce and was not a deturrant when I bough the sim (though, at the time, I was a naive 14-year-old who had not previously heard of starforce until I popped in the FC disk). I have since run lockon with SF on several different computers and operating systems with no SF relates issues. Aero DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Total Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 SF is not the nightmare it used to be. Now, if you're problem is not being to install it on several computers due to limited activations, then you do have reason not to like Starforce. With most games going the route of being digital downloads, get used to DRM protection as it's going to be the only way to reduce piracy. A key code algorhythm is too easily to figure out these days and is insufficient.

HiJack Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 This must be the most helpfull starforce thread I've seen yet
Comieodor Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 For those guys who are worried about StarForce, allow me to tell a brief tale: A few years ago I purchased a copy of GT Legends, after hours upon hours of fafing about with drivers, re-installs and posts on both the official games forums, third party fan forums AND the forums dedicated to gaming in general I eventually had to resort to using a crack TO PLAY A GAIME I PAID FOR AND LEGITAMATELY OWNED. Total time taken from getting the game at the store to scooting around Monza in a Mini - about 3 weeks. I said at the time I would not touch another game that used SF regardless of how badly I wanted to play it. Contrast that to the DCS: Black Shark story: 1 - I installed the game from the DVD. 2 - I entered my serial number 3 - I put a Vhikr into a mini scooting around Monza (well not quite.. learning the weapons systems took a bit longer :p) Total time taken from buying the game at the store to playing it - about an hour. The SF protection used in DCS (and I'm told the CD version of FC2) is a completely different beast to the older demonic versions, and nothing to really fear. Assuming you have a copy of the original LOMAC which doesn't use SF either, you'll be free and easy. And If your in North America Im fairly sure LOMAC Platinum uses the DCS system as well. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Fahhh Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Correct, with DCS/ FC2, you will no longer have to install SF drivers on your system. Using the plain old LOMAC before FC2, you will still bypass SF drivers/ problems.
