159th_Viper Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Gonna have to keep the Pro for the Kamov, Spetz. Ain't no way the 65F will work for the Helo :joystick: That is one nasty price tag  Aye - Will never pay that for Saitek. topdog Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 UK price is assumedly with 17.5 VAT already added into it; whereas isn't it more common for sales tax on US prices to be applied more individually to different areas/states, so it's not in the general listed prices online? If so, that'd make it nearer 299 GBP + VAT vs. 399 USD + any applicable sales tax, which isn't quite so heinous (unlike, say, a comparison in gas prices!), otherwise I'd agree that it's typical of some other product pricing I've seen where that wasn't the case and not nice pill to swallow. I don't think I could enjoy using a force sense stick anyway as I like the 'throw around' feeling of using a moving cyclic control, until I was able to substitute one sensation of movement for another like this: Then it'd work for me, in fixed wing at least. Not for tanks or helos or what have you. I'm also getting hooked into the programmable LEDs and MFDs now, and that's another kind of feedback I'd miss. So a pass from me, but still interested in the warthog... Vault Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Woah, that's expensive, especially for Saitek whose previous generation of HOTAS products have a shady history of reliability. To be fair force sensors use solid state transducers so long term reliability of the stick shouldn't be an issue on the X-65F in the X and Y axis. My old X-52's slider, minimouse, throttle and rotators all suffered serious spiking issues which raises concern regarding how reliable are the X-65F's counterparts?. Does anyone know what sensors Saitek used on the X-65F's dual throttle?. Edited March 7, 2010 by Vault [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Its a premium HOTAS. High price was expected. About reliability I had issues with all manufacturers except CH. My X52 lasted me long, 3 years considering it was aquired on second hand. My worst experiences had beem with TM's F4 replicas and the afterburner range, and my current G940. They all exibit growing accuracy and failiure problems over the months. .
*Rage* Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 £299 at play.com Good price in my opnion. With the impending release of FC2 im left joystick-less! To buy X65 or wait till TM warthog?! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
GGTharos Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I would suggest holding out for TM Warthog. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
*Rage* Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I would suggest holding out for TM Warthog. Well tell them to bloody hurry up then! (Also need rudders) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
emenance Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Rage you are not the only one that is grounded from FC2 without a new stick. Right now its got to be a TM. I can play BS now though. Asus P8Z68-V GEN3/ 2500k 4.4ghz / Corsair 64gb SSD Cache / Corsair 8g 1600 ddr3 / 2 x 320gb RE3 Raid 0 /Corsair 950w/ Zotac 560TI AMP 1gb / Zalman GS1200 case /G940/
BladeLWS Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Got the X65F the other day, works great with BS. Set trim and let it fly itself with finger tip corrections ;) No spiking issues with this stick, all axis work just fine, including the mini stick. Full metal construction etc. As opposed to the G940 I had prior, where the rudder pedals and dials had spiking issues, and putting the stick to the left forward and none of the buttons on the stick worked. If anyone has any questions just ask.
sobek Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 If anyone has any questions just ask. How much did it set you back? :) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
BladeLWS Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 $800 actually, got the instrument panel screen for it (which knocks $50 off the screen when you buy the the stick combo) and the radio panel and autopilot panel for FSX.
sobek Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 O_O, oh boy. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
celticcoho Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 hello, i am new to this forum, I have the x65f, love them, the stick is all pressure sensing. take so getting used to, but flies the A-10 and Black Shark just fine, the only draw back is so new, no profiles to download, so must spend the time making your own, but it is easy to do, Jim [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Celticcoho (OriginFreedom) WIN 7 64 bit, I7975 at 3.6ghz,X58 Classified 3 Mobo, 6gb Corsair 2000 ram, 2 ea ATI 5870 Eyefinity 6 2gb's , 27" Ultra Sharp,(main view), 3 23"touch screens , Tm Warthog, Saitek Combat Pedals Track IR 5,:D JIM.:book:
Cp Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Are there any other ways of holding the joystick in place other than screwing that plate thingy onto ones desk? I can't find any pictures of suction cups or anything else and I'm not too keen on the idea of drilling holes in my brand new desk.

I can't find any pictures of suction cups or anything else and I'm not too keen on the idea of drilling holes in my brand new desk. I would imagine that this is only necessary if you turn down the sensitivity of the stick, so that you have to push very hard. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! BladeLWS Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 You don't have to bolt it down, I won't. I never even use it on the highest force settings.
CyBerkut Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Cp, you can always screw it down on to a board of whatever size you need ( A pre-made bookshelf board with a laminate surface worked well for me ) and then C clamp the board to your desk when you want to fly. That's what I did for my Saitek X-52 throttle and stick. I just C clamp it to the keyboad drawer. Edited March 25, 2010 by CyBerkut [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
SinCityJet Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 TM Warthog recommendation from GGTharos I would suggest holding out for TM Warthog. Done. I consider the source. Umm... when should I budget for the purchase? :smartass: Upgrading Flight Sim computers since the Apple ][.
