DCS does not have any technical information available to it, since DCS is the name of a videogame series. Eagle Dynamics is the developer.

Both of the titles in the DCS series have come from aircraft ED had (military) contracts to build simulators for. It may be too large an undertaking to gather all the technical information required for a DCS-quality simulation if it's purely for the entertainment market. What's the likelihood of a nation's military contracting for a simulation of the Jaguar? Probably not very high.

I'd also agree with joey45's assessment that a pure strike fighter probably isn't all that interesting, and would hold limited appeal in the entertainment sim market.

hmm. Not a Jaguar but the Royal navy may be ordering the F-18F.

I bet they will need a simulator for the pilots to train with. ED get in there quick :P

^^ IF they decide not to plonk a stupid ski ramp at the front of our new boat....

IF they do - JSF - F35 [VTOL version] and Mirlin/Seaking/Lynx

IF they don't - F35 [propa version], F18/hawkeye/other support planes & helis..

@Luke.S - I very doubt Britain would have the money for the Bugs.

IF we do a propa boat we would have to rely on the Yanks to retrain us on carrier ops..... T45c anyone:P

EDIT: the thing is who would by the DCS: Jaguar [GR3a] module???

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I guess I'm through with this topic if a strike fighter is not a worthy subject for DCS to consider (though I wonder who knows what DCS is really thinking). I mentioned the Jag because it's an older bird, but clearly if DCS sin't doing training modules for it then it has no chance. I get it.

But I have to say I think it would expand the world of combat simulations if a new strike fighter sim were added. Maybe someone will revive Janes F/A 18 and modernize it? That sim is still popular. But I was thinking along a land-based strike fighter. Oh well, might as well go twiddle my thumbs while I wait.

Your right the first time round , ED will do a Strike Fighter in DCS but I doubt it'll be the Jag or any other European jet but a American or Russian one.

If DCS stays firm to it's methodology for introducing aircraft simulations based on those it has been contracted to produce training modules for, I wonder how soon before it runs out of aircraft to present to us sim fliers? There are a host of things I don't know about DCS's plans and many more things I don't know I don't know about them, but either it has plenty of aircraft under contract to produce training modules for, or it has very few. If it's the latter, we may not see more aircraft for simulation for quite some time. :(

One can only hope DCS adds a strike fighter. We'll just have to wait and see.

It won't run out any time soon.

If and when it does, there are probably some contingency plans to deal with it.

Right.. so now we have 1 one man russian chopper and one 1man american fixed aircraft. to balance out the game i would say either a 1man american ground attack chopper or a fixed wing russian ground attack plane.

And just look at ARMA... the interior of the vehicles there are crap. but its still a huge sucess... so implemend arma inf and ground vehicle support please :)

Why not just play ARMA then?:smilewink:

Dont say that, it will give our government ideas to just dump everything and opt for the goshawk so they can save loads of cash, to then throw it all away on fatties who claim benefits because they claim they are too fat to work.

Wouldn't surprise me if the only build one big boat or buiild both and flog one off at a discount.....

The Jag would still be awesome but unfortantaly there is no market for it.

this first post is funny

They are doing a Apache, I think it was somewhere on simHQ they had a few apache cockpit photos.

Also, I disagree. AV-8B Harrier:lol:

They wanted to do an Apache but plans changed, status and future of the Apache are unknown.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Probably because the scope of improvements have changed.

ManufacturerHughes Helicopters, McDonnell Douglas, and Boeing Integrated Defense SystemsOperatorsUnited States Army, Israel Air Force, Royal Netherlands Air Force, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force

Upgrades

The first of the upgraded block II Apaches was delivered to the US Army in February 2003. Block II included upgrades to the digital communications systems of 96 A-model Apaches to improve communications within the "tactical internet". In October 2007, Boeing delivered the first extended block II to the US Army.

In July 2005, the US Army awarded Boeing a development contract for block III improvements, to enter service from 2011. In December 2009, the maiden flight test of AH-64D Apache with block III structures were completed.

"Block III improvements, slated for 2008 onwards, include increasing digitisation."Block III includes increasing digitisation, the joint tactical radio system, enhanced engines and drive systems, capability to control UAVs and new composite rotor blade. The new blades, which successfully completed flight testing in May 2004, increase the Apache's cruise speed, climb rate and payload capability. The block III system development and demonstration (SDD) contract was awarded to Boeing in July 2006. First flight of the Apache Block III was in July 2008. The US Army plans to upgrade all its Apache fleet to block III standard.

Science Engineering Services Inc, (SES) is a partner to Boeing in upgrading the AH-64D helicopters to the block III configuration. It will perform disassembly, inspection and repair of the AH-64D Apache helicopters.

The disassembly, inspection and repair works will take place at the SES West Aviation and Integration Facility in Huntsville. The helicopters will then be shipped to Boeing in Mesa, Arizona, for incorporating the AH-64D Apache block III.

Hey Joey,

What strike fighter would you most like to see in DCS-World? Which strike fighter do you think will have the best chance to be added to the series?

F-15E or the Jaguar GR3a [or the latest one that twas upgraded before it was withdrawn]

Which strike fighter do you think will have the best chance to be added to the series?

any that ED can get thier grubby hands on really.

I think either plane would be a great addition, but I'm concerned that you might be right about a strike fighter not being commercially interesting (Not withstanding that some people still play Janes F15E Strike Eagle) This video was just made this past May: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3017314/Jane_s_F15_tribute_video.html#Post3017314

Maybe we won't see a dedicated strike fighter until DCS develops a new graphics engine, provided the marketers see a money-making demand for it.

The Mud Hen has a bigger market then the Cat does....

But having a Yank starting a thread about an Anglo-French plane that nearly never made it past the drawing board [let alone prototype] stage, needs some considering...

Dear ED

What are the possibilies, out of 10 - 10 being good, of you doing the Jaguar GR3a in DCS??

Hmmm, maybe DCS could more rapidly produce the Su30MkI? http://www.air-attack.com/images/single/793/Indian-SU-30-MKI-makes-debut-at-Red-Flag-08-04-3.html

A flight of these on a deep strike may do some damage within a persistent online campaign. WHo knows? Maybe DCS did a training model already and is just waiting on that graphic engine update. I used to fly Digital Integration's Tornado back in the day. Wonderful mission builder, and a great manual too. I still have the Desert Storm disc somewhere around here. But even then the sensation of speed down low was well done. As in Janes F15E, one could jump from front seat to back seat. It was offline work for sure, but it was awesome!
