With all of the addons, its the most realistic simulator I can pop in on...I dont care if the planes dont really fly like that IRL...beats paying 150 an hour renting a cessna.

Naw, in that case I'ld relay on X-Plane. If you like to fly like real. FS is kinda nice as an appetite catcher, but after that, the high fidelity-physics and mathematics of x-plane are winning the game. Nuff said.

There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload".

X-Plane 9 is a joke when it comes to flight modelling. Its no longer the vaunted sim it used to be...and honestly I can say its not really any better than FSX.

Yeah whatever. Im still waiting on Mortal Kombat Fight Simulator 2013 with Advanced Fight Modelling and realistic nunchaku. The character models will be so accurate, Liu Kangs penis will look like a giant mushroom with a smurf living in it.

Having flown both X-plane and FSX I can tell you X-plane is a bit more realistic. Will X-plane you can also get a FAA rated setup for much cheaper then a couple simulator sessions at your local flight school.

Back to the topic...maybe we need to think outside the box. Maybe the next plane will be a B-17? All we know is it's a fix wing...nobody said it was a jet right?

You can do that with FSX. Problem with that is that you need a Flight School instructor to record your log, and its only good for ground instructions. It applies to both FSX and X Plane.

Thinking outside the box is good... armed with facts... Wags said "Fixed wing US fighter". Most people would assume "Jet". Considering he also mentioned "different time-periods" in a seperate interview, this opens up a whole new can of airplanes ;-)

"It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."

Oh dear god, it looks like someone cut off the tail of H.R. Gigers alien and strapped a pair of wings on.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

If you love to fly, flying is all that matters...you bloodthirsty combat pilot maniac. :D

IRL I'd love to only fly around with any aircraft, but when it comes to simming, the fact that you could fall down and be dead is missing, so the thrill needs to come from blowing things up. :)

:D

That thing would be an extreme headache to write the flight control computer programing for. The wings swing out hinged in the back. That must make the transition from High speed to low speed a bit tricky. Not for an AI disco ball pilot of course.

I'm sure it's nothing that the Lockheed engineers that made the F-117 couldn't handle :D

Enough with the FSX cheerleading please, it's off topic.

(and IMHO X-Plane is much better and has X-Plane 10 in development, whereas FSX has been abandoned - so please no more hyping up FSX, since many of us that use both disagree ... and are here to fight as well as fly!).

ACTUALLY...FSX has more followers than X Plane 9...but what do I know? Its not like I dont have them both either. Point is, me pointing out facts does not constitute cheerleading. You dont like it? Write your congresswoman. Thanks.

In the meantime, in the various press releases for September Air Force has awarded contracts for F-16 and T-6A simulators.

I wouldn't mind an F-16 simulator with the realism of the DSC A-10. You get them all playing together with FC2, BS, and A-10 via multiplayer and you could have a really good time.

Honestly for me, I'd like f/a-18 or f-16, however i think the f/a-18 interests me little more. And for all the falconeers out there, well they've been flying the f-16 for over a decade, so why stop now ;)

I think F/A-18 Super Hornet would be nicer over the F-16. The F-16 really hasn't had a major update done to it in the realm like the super hornet. Then again, a post above said they were designing a F-16 sim for the government - so who knows?

Without bearing in mind the jet model, the real deal with F-18's is the possible inclusion of naval operations in DCS.

A map extension to the south, say Black Sea, East Mediterranean would be a good idea too...

Just dreaming, lets see..

Of course my vote goes for naval operations

Too many upgrades to choose from. If ED is building an F-16 sim, Id care to wager it will be the F-16 Blk 50+ with CCIP upgrade, WAR HUD, large mouth intake and the upgraded GE101s. Personally, Id rather take an F/A-18C, so that way you have the added option for naval warfare.
