I think we'll see DCS:F-16 sooner or later anyway. I mean, it's versatile aircraft that'll allow for endless hours of fun, it's popular (every 1st grader knows what F-16 is) and there are a lot of information available for development. BMS is geting old (it's already grandpa) so I'm sure a lot of Falcon pilots would switch to DCS. F-16 = gold mine. I believe that sales of this bird would get crazy high. It's a damn F-16!

I would not object to an F16 being developed, nor would I object to it not being developed.

That would be my objection too. But the rendered cockpit is subject to confusion.I don't care actually if it's F-16 or F-18.DCS clearly needs a multi role fighter. Now as it is clearly F-18 is fine for me.I have a sympathy for Viper as our airforce using it extensively. That's all.:)

I guess now that the first wave of fighters has been revealed and with there being such a mix of aircraft still in the pipeline, it'll be a good long while before we might see it.

Falcon BMS made that jet feel like home to me and I'd love to see it finally done justice in DCS one day.

Honestly though, I'd love to fly the hornet, eagle, tomcat or tornado almost all as much anyway.

I'm not sure how much I would want the F16 simply because of the large number of posts that will inevitably appear on these forums explaining how the DCS version just isn't as good as the BMS version and the arguments that ensue.

Yeah, DCS F-18 is pretty much a done deal. You can go back and review the promo vid for DCS World, the messaging put forward by Wags and the online radio interview he did.

I imagine the F-16 was dumped a while back because it has gotten quite a bit of press ... Falcon 3.0, 4.0, Allied Force, FreeFalcon, BMS. There has been Janes F-18, but overall that airframe has gotten a lot less love (IMO). The F-18 adds the capability of carrier ops which is splendid and would add a great new richness to DCS World IMO.

F-18 is no slouch in A2A. I worked for a guy who flew em and he reminded me that there is a lot more to dogfighting than meets the eye. There are certain flight regimes where the F-18's ability to crank out high AoA and very high vertical rates of turn mean you have a decent enough advantage that you can get your guns / SRMs on the bandit. Depends upon loadout, fuel, altitude, engines, etc.

If you really want to get into A2A, you can at least cut your teeth with FC3. Yea yeah, it's only the SFM and not a fully clickable cockpit with systems galore, but guess what... that frees you up a bit to focus on your A2A tactics instead of mashing buttons. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE mashing buttons and I am stupid excited for the DCS Fast Mover (F-18).

I will say after somewhat reluctantly purchasing FC3 I have discovered that strict A2A gets monotonous a little. It's super nice to have the flexibility to do it all. Now... do NOT take away my F-15C for the love of all that's holy! I love me some A2A. But... getting back in the hog can be fun and I expect the F-18 will pretty much rock.

I am equally excited for the 3rd party AV-8B module, which is an airframe that has gotten very little love in the hardcore sim genre. I know... it doesn't carry as much ordinance, but like the F-16 it has a pretty amazing view and is multirole. Obviously, the AV-8B is more about pounding ground and CAS sorties, but with this being a 3rd party module, we get both... F-18 and AV-8B... you know... in another 2 years or so :music_whistling:

Trust me... I would LOVE to fly the F-16 in all its DCS glory. I'm just saying I understand why it hasn't gotten done by ED, though I have no idea why a 3rd party doesn't jump on it. Wiiiissshhhh somebody woooouulllddd!!! :joystick:

Can someone make the English Electric F.6 Lightning please (and/or maybe the export version too)! It was the first production interceptor to have supercruise. Neat plane.

ED team, could you exactly tell us, are you going to make F-16 as next aircraft?

or are there any other 3rd developers making Falcon whose model you want to include into DCS?

I saw several posts with cockpits & models of F-16 and some screenshots from 3rd developers who said it is almost completed. But it was 2-3 years ago.

I would be very apreciate if tell any information.

Hang on a minute... The Lightning could supercruise?! Talk about ahead of its time. Somebody make it happen! :joystick:

It's another way to unlock the bonus secret DCS: Martin Baker Mk14 alpha. Currently it still uses SFM but AFM is being implemented and should be here with patch 1.2.7. :D

DCS World needs ... a Boeing C-17 Globemaster

I hope military transports start to make it into the DCS environment one day! Cheers ...

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

That would be nice, even with a simple flight model, to simulate escort mission with human pilots!

I hope that these utility aircraft can be simulated to DCS level ... or dare I say PMDG levels? :D

I'm not really interested in aircraft that are modeled to FC3 level ... I hasten to add there's a place for these I know, just not in my hangar! Cheers.

I agree with Teapot if this aircraft would be made for dcs, I would like a advance module. Ed has spoiled us with they're high fidelity aircrafts, and now I don't want anything but. Although I enjoy flying the F-15 on FC3 can't wait for the release of the standalone module.

5000+ responses here and 50% are voting for F-18E. I also voted for that. The carrier ops alone would be worth the price of admission for me. I'd take either the C or the E version of the F-18. I know Wags mentioned the C in his DCS World video, so hopefully that's on the Horizon. Regardless, looks like an overwhelming number of us are looking for the Super Hornet.

Oh man.... A DCS: C-17 Globemaster III, *drools*

P.S.: I think you could win a war against a small country with that amount of flares... You could burn the whole country lol.

DCS F-18 is going to be a C as you mentioned. "E" model will be tricky due to the lack of declassified information. I wouldn't bet on it anytime soon :(

I don't think we'll see the DCS 18 until *maybe* December to line up with the holidays.

heh!

I think there are quite a few folks that (with proper SIM support of key functionality) would love this one, since there are a few FS heavy guys in here (my perception).

The functionality I speak of would be ability to load vehicles into the aircraft, making it useful in resupplying airbases and FARPs using the warehousing features of the SIM / ME and also simply fun...
