"While I love the F104 I dont think DCS needs another interceptor."

You're right.

We need more trainers and unarmed helicopters.

I think aviodev are planning to do it

Sim Skunk Works (that have developed a FSX/P3D version for it have cancelled it), Aviodev have annunced it (but we are far away from a potential release).

Here I would like to speak about an ED official release.

This Aircraft worth an official release, with all the bells and whistle of the case.

Between the 3rd party developers, maybe the only one that is able to do it is Leatherneck, but they are involved in too many projects.

Oh, you can call it flying coffin, widowmaker, aluminum death tube and so on... but lot of accidents occured due to human factor: you can't do any type of error with it (loss of S.A. will kill you in seconds here...)

The 104 was the first bisonic aircraft produced in the line, and you must consider that a lot of pilot were transitioning from F-86 jet, subsonic post WWII era. The top ratio of accidents occurred between the 60' to 75', and involved A to G built versions. F-104S, ASA, ASA-M have a minor impact on accidents ratio.

I did serve here as firefighting between Bosnia and Kosovo, taking care of Starfighters, so a can only say +1 for F-104, but ASAM.

I think a 1970's to 1980's F-104 would fit in very well. I'd happily add that to my collection as it fits right in with the rest of DCS (unlike WW2 and Korea stuff). Like the MiG-21, it should be fairly interesting to fly too. Nothing like a manned missile for a joyride.

Nice, the last time i've seen this pic has been in the 90 years..... Thank.

The best answer to Mig-21bis would be the ASAM (F104S/ASA-M), 100%. It's not really competitive versus Mig-29 ecc. ecc. but this F-104 has been in service till 2004.

Everybody leaves out the Delta Dart :(

"The American Mirage"

A good interceptor that is of the same era of the MiG-21.

Even comes with an internal bay and a nuclear A-A rocket! (muahahaha) :D

Please remain in topic. Even if I know that every ac of the world should be included, actually we don't need another US only fighter..

This is a topic about a 104 in game...And the reason are in the first post

When I was out in Germany, anyone who wanted to own their very own F-104 Starfighter only had to buy a plot of farmland, and wait for one to fall into it.

If we had one with interchangeable wings, we could have the U2 spy plane as well!

No absolutely, with ASAM all strike-related equipment was totally removed

Already since the S, the M-61 vulcan has been removed in the interceptor variant to make room for avionics, while was retained for the fighter-bomber variant

LOL. I agree. I roll my eyes every time there is a new trainer announced. I could play FSX for that.

The I think a fighter-bomber variant will be better.

Not for me. This bird was born to fly as fast as possible and intercept, despite it's multi-role capability

LOL... instead I think that you must learn to fly in a trainer with FSX...and combat in DCS environment:megalol:

Whilst I do love the F-104, and I've said this a fair few amount of times already, to be totally honest I'd rather ED get everything on the same level as everything else we have - we still have to make do with tonnes of stuff from LOMAC and FC2, plus the whole DCS 1.5 and 2.0 merging business, plus there are still some small teething problems that are still around that haven't (yet) been addressed.

Once all that has been done I'm more than happy to jump from the fix and update boat into the more aircraft etc boat. DCS is more quality not quantity.

That being said I do love the F-104 and hopefully some time in the future in makes it into DCS

Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.

Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas.

I love so much F-16 I just cant believe they didnt make it yet...most EPIC multirole fighter EVER!!!!!:(

I TOTALLY agree with you, The F16 rocks!

As a former Dutch Life support sergeant (21 years) I worked a lot with the F16.

Hence, I was even able to fly with it once as a passenger. (Impressive experience)
