X65F, itself it is good.

comparing with G940 (my former HOTAS), it is much better.

on FC2, X65F is much acceptable, and precise.

but on BS, difficult to maneuver.

keeping point where I want is much unstable than moving stick.

and X65F has one obvious fault.

its centering is not zero point in X, Y axis.

I have complained Saitek-reseller about that problem.

they replied that most of X65F`s centering are same.

there is not solving method now.

so, I have to set deadzone in X, Y axis

if someone want to buy X65F, keep that in mind

anyway, any suggestions about maneuvering BS with Force-sensing stick

are welcomed.

PS. sorry for poor english

I found mine centred slightly left of centre, but there was a Saitek X-65F HID and USB download available on Friday for Windows 7 and XP on Microsoft Update that seemed to cure that, its good to have a slight dead zone on any stick though in my opinion.

Bottom line ... My X-65F centred perfectly after that MS update even without a dead zone.

Your English is fine.

I'm still learning Black Shark myself, but I'll get back to you on this.

I found I adapted to the X-65F very quickly in conventional Aircraft, from FC2, FSX and even Rise of Flight, its so much better than my X-52 pro and Cougar, Helicopters in FSX were a bit difficult to control, mostly because of the stiff throttle I think, but now that its loosening up a little (they are apparently all like this from new) its much better and I don't need to swap HOTAS for FSX Heli's anymore, need a lot more experience in BS before I can say the same for sure though, for this sim.

Just the normal Win7 or XP update, maybe you have it already and never realised if you are set to automatic updates ... check your update history.

I have found that Windows updates seem to be staggered, perhaps by location and to spread the server load (not that these are big files) and some users don't get the same updates at the same time, apart from critical updates.

yes, small dead-zones are necessary sometimes just for the sake of hand rest onto the stick. No fun if its giving input by just having its weight off axis.

I think the centering problem could be sovled by adjust the adjustable resistor inside the X65F, but I don't know if they have this design...and also you have to open it which cause you losing the warrenty....

I really like how the stick and especially the throttle look but how do they feel? As for the dual throttle, I don't see a meganism to lock the two levers together and I imagine it'd be easy to inadvertantly move one more than the other and yawing the aircraft.

Tried it, the stick gets a 3/5 and the throttle gets a 1/5 from me.

I'm sticking to my cougar FSSB R2 with good old X52 throttle :)

Works like a charm in BS too (possible to hover and turn inside hangars)

HA!

My old Saitek Cyborg Evo can do that :D

I've been doing that using only keyboard but that's not important. :D

So what about them that you didn't like?

There is a little pin. You see it here on the left down. the grey thing with the yellow arrow on its right.

@Topic: For me its nearly impossible to fly a chopper with a stick like the X65f. I use my old X52 for this.

How does it feel while its not moving? I mean this joy is cool as it almost real copy of F-16 HOTAS, but in real plane it have a small zone of movement. I think Saitek should put it in their product too. So you still can feel where the stick goes. Nevertheless, none the less X-65F stick is static and not moving. So that can you say?)

It have such a mechanism. You can see it at youtube. Edited by Hardcore

I simply could not use the X65 throttle. I have medium to small size hands,

but as soon as I try to move the throttle backwards or forwards I accidently

hit a button/hat/switch on it. There does not seem to be any position to keep

my fingers relaxed.

The stick is better, but still the shape feels unergonomic in ways, and maybe

you saw that centering issue, I experienced the same the times I tried it

(Significantly missing the center position). On top of that I could not get

very good precision, but that may just have been badly set up maximum force.

Maximum force was not enough. Even when using the highest force level

required, it was too easy to reach maximum ingame deflection of control

surfaces (I tried it with Fc2).

I was expecting a result like "ok now I want to move my FPM one pixel up

on the hud", but I found it not to be possible with the X65 setup I used,

whereas with the FSSB it was not a problem at all.

I wonder, does FSSB Cougar center perfectly each time? For example, if you test it in foxy's joystick analyzer, with deadzones off etc, does it always return to (511,511)? And if it deviates, by how much?

I also have the centering issue with x65f, although I wouldn't say its that terrible (less than 0.5%), but I just wonder how FSSB is.

I can't answer the FSSB issue don't have it for my Courgar...but all Hotas no matter what product will eventually in time of wear and tear will suffer configuration issue's:thumbup:

As far as the FSSB goes , no it does not center perfect everytime, it deviates a little over time and use so you'll have too open it up and tweak the axis a little, quite often actually if u want it perfect all the time.

Generally tho you can just recalibrate and its centered from the software and do the occasional hardware recalib.

Deviation for me is usually no more than 10 (512,520 etc )

As for flying with this thing, i think its alright if you got it on 6lbs y and X, but i grabbed myself a x52 instead, feels a lot more natural

I had a conversation with Saitek tech support a while ago about something similar. One day I came home from work and sat down to play and my stick didn't work anymore. After fooling around with it and doing a system restore it worked again. Then Windows update installed the driver again and it quit working.. I had many hours of headache because of this. I ended up emailing Saitek and the tech support told me they typically push drivers to Windows update before you will see a driver package on their website.

Moral of the story, turn off auto updates and see what it wants to install before you let it.

If it doesn't still show for you, try going in device manager under Human interface devices, find the Saitek listing, right click, pick properties, go to the driver tab, click update and it will check to see if there is a newer WHQL driver available.
