Hi all this post is for people who constantly get low Fps and don't know what to do about it.

Well here are a few solutions that are sure to get you anywhere from 10-30 fps more.

Read on...

Go to your main FC2 folder from there navigate to \BlackShark\data\scripts

and open the options.lua file

Inside there you will see multiple values

You can use the old Medium water from FC1.1 simply change

the value from ["water"] = 2, to ["water"] = 1,

Now you can also use the old "basic haze" option as well like in FC1.1 instead of the default " Advanced Haze" option in FC2.

all you do is change the value ["haze"] = 1, to ["haze"] = 0,

Hope this helps, Happy Simming!

Peace

Haze does ugly ground but FPS up. Water change seems ok.

Yes, good reminder :thumbup:

- it's one of the favorite FPS tweak from the DCS family.

Water is drawn under all the landmass - so when you change it to a lower value it seem to help alot for those with slower CPU's.

Change your water settings in (use NOTEPAD++, do not use windows notepad)

\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua

Set water to 1:

["water"] = 1,

Be careful with your files though, use Notepad++ when editing. Some people even reports Wordpad might work ok.

(some files break since the contain other codepages / foreign characters).

I'm not quite sure how it is with the options.lua now, since I always use NP++

Nice find Fusion ... to be honest i prefer the medium settings IMO it looks closer to reality then the "Glossy" default water anyway.

@Panzertard

I changed this one with notepad with no problems

speaking of tweaks..

what do these settings [Graphics.cfg] actually do?

Haze seems to mess with other stuff too. Makes the ground very blurry. But does increase FPS quite a bit. I went back to original however.

You'll lose effects like landing gear and runway lights too.

Mustang, have you seen any fps improvement using that R-77 model? My fps are good even when a 29 is flying around. I ask because I don't want to install a mod that I really don't need.

Yes i have, and so have others, try it and see :)

The graphics in 2.0 are too much dependend on haze=1 in options.lua under

LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\BlackShark\data\scripts, and even compensations or re-adjustments with lod land night values, or OldLandNoise/back, or noisemin and noisemax or noisestrip settings in graphics.cfg wont get your graphics back, in other words, you cant get rid of the blury gfx in the terrain once haze=0, which was better possible in 1.12.

Furthermore this time with 2.0 the fogparameters (1 and 2) have a different impact once changed. For example, if you make fogparam 1 and 2 =0 (like in 1.12) to get rid of transparency rendering, you will also completly loose all your haze, even though haze=1 in options.lua. (things are interconnected in "their own way")

But the good news is, you can tune your haze (if you feel it as too much, what many expressed) by changing your fogpararmeters in graphics.cfg.

Water=1, and effects=1 (options.lua) is a good choice imo.

CloudAspectThreshold = 0.03 > to 1.0 is a good solution for low end gfx-card, but meaningless for for high end gfx-cards with multiple pipelines. Besides the "jiggling" clouds,

you wont achieve anything changing this.

Conclusion:

with good settings and a bit of unnecessary wasting of time in your files, 2.0 runs on an average with better fps under slighty better gfx then 1.12, but the stock installation values are very optimistic, maybe good for presentations but doubtfull as a solution in multiplayer environment, lookig the fact, that even high-end PCs suffer without tweaks.

Wow wow wow :pilotfly: :D I just changed my graphics card settings and some of these settings in the game and I got fps stable over 60 and no stuttering with TrackIR movement! I have locked it on 60 to reduce crash (mentioned in another post here). Here are my settings now:

Textures: High

Sceens = Medium

Civ T = No

Water = changed in .lua file as in first post here.

Visib R. = High

Heat blur = Off

Shadows = Active Planar

Res. = 1900x1200

Aspect = 16:10 (have 24” with native 1900x1200)

Radio speech = Off

Subtitles = Off

ATI 5870 settings:

Anti Aliasing = 8X

Anisotropic Filter : 16x (maximum)

AI : Standard

Mipmap : High Quality

Vertical Refresh = On (Always)

AA Mode : Adaptive AA

OpenGL = On

I run on AMD CPU and Windows 7 (64 bit).

This will be tested more tomorrow night, it's bedtime here now, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'm wondering why " ["reflections"] = false," code in option.lua does not work anymore, even default setting is false we still got reflections.

Anyone can keep an eye on this?
