Does the A-10 suffer any damage if the APU gen is turned on before the APU? What about if the APU is turned off before the gen? In all of the checklists I've looked at so far, the APU is always switched on before and switched off after the gen. How are the two connected?

Depends really. You need to have some basic idea of where the target will be, and then you can search for it with the TGP. I personally think that finding a target is one of the more rewarding things in the sim. But it takes some practice, and above all time / patience.

Hi,

I've completed Surrounded mission with labels, i'm trying to do that again without labels but i don't know how to spot enemy. My wingman says something like "air defence xxx clock on xxx", first i don't know what should i do with that numbers. Is there any way to spot enemy without wingman and without jtac? Or is there should be at least one of them (wingmans direction, jtac maybe awacs).

Are there any tips or tutorials for these? Thanks.

(sorry for my bad english grammar)

The APU is a little turbine which provides compressed air and drives an electrical generator and a hydraulic pump.

So when you turn on the generator without the APU running nothing at all happens.

Go into Controls setup in-game and remove your slider there, and add the trottle axis to throttles in there.

Very, very short answers:

1. EGI align not complete before moving to runway ( OSB NAV + 4 minutes -> 4.0 0.8 )

Longer versions of those answers ;-)

1) when you turn on CDU and EGI, EGI takes about 4 minutes to align. You cannot move until the process is finished, otherwise your navigation system won't be accurate and you won't be able to turn on EAC.

You will know when the alignment is complete: on CDU there will be flashing text: 'INS NAV READY' and few lines below you will see this number: 4.0.0.8

Thanks but I think there is something else too, I couldn't make it work in my way. I will give it another try.. But I got the ILS working.

Another question regarding campaign missions payloads. I have now flown 4 missions. In the first I had (at least these) 2x AIM-9M, 2x Maverick, 4x CBU-97, TGP. But in the 2-4 I have had only 2x AIM-9M and 4x Maverick with 3 other planes following me. Apparently 5th mission is with same configuration. Quite frustrating to find the targets with Mavericks.. Am I supposed to choose the load by my self by commanding ground grew or is it bug? Or should I fly with only 2 Mavericks?

Not important questions, but I'm curious...

Is INS drift modelled? Has GPS constellation model been retained from Black Shark (and used) ?

Regards!

Well I can answer myself now: I've just finished a test flight. After forcing EGI to take INS data only, and breaking GPS keys just in case, the FOM remained 1 and GPS, INS and BLENDED position in SYS/INS/POS match each other. In ALIGN page, INS alignement factor didn't move from 4.0 0.8. Shame :(

I almost always use the ME to set up my payload to fit the mission (if it's not locked), mostly because some of the weapons that the mission builder selected are still WIP (CBU's for example). I'll also add the TGP if it's not already included. Although, it does add a great deal of difficultly to the mission finding targets without the TGP.

INS is still planned, and we still don't have time for this right now. ;)

1. Altimeter Source: if I change the source, the altitude doesn't change, at least not by so much to notice the difference. I suppose this is correct, but I would like to know in which scenarios (and if at all) I might want to change it (in simulation and how does that compare to IRL).

If you are talking about PNEU/ELEC switch on the altimeter gage, then the answer is the following - if you have lost either electrics, or CADC, to retain altimeter operation you have to switch it to PNEU operation mode. In this mode altimeter is directly fed by wing mounted pitot-static probe. There will be a small error in indication, but not that big as it can be IRL because so far we don't account for non-standard atmosphere effects. In ELEC mode altimeter is servoed by CADC data.

Fantastic! I have read something about before, just I wanted to know whether it's already implemented or still pending. Although TBH, INS modelling is something that BlackShark people would note more, since "Rubicon" works with INS raw data and it's not blended with GPS data.

Hi,

I'm trying to use freetrack but there is a problem. I was using keyboard for camera control, now i'm using freetrack for x y and keyboard for zoom. Normally camera is getting slower after the zoom but with freetrack thats not happening. I mean camera's movement speed is fixed and if i zoom in its too quick. How can i fix that?

Thanks and sorry for my English.

Change the mission loadout. I almost always change it to something I want. They are all unrealistic anyways.

I might have figured out why I couldn't make the EGI alignt work. Every time in the start up the plane has drifted a bit, even thought the engines was on idle. This might have screwed the procedure.

Bullseye:

An established reference point from which the position of an object can be referenced....

alternatively;

An arbitrary geographic location that is used as a common reference for units operating in the same general area.......

And so on.

In other words.....Tally SAM/AAA bearing 210 from Bullseye at 15 clicks: Now you know exactly where the SAM is, irrespective of your position wrt the wingie who just gave you said info.

In addition, there's a BULLSEYE offset Tutorial in the DCS A10 wiki .http://dcswiki.com/index.php?title=DCS:_A-10C_Tutorial_Collection

This will let you know how to set a waypoint using BULLSEYE as the initial point.

campaigns?

Hey folks, could anybody please tell me what campaign or mission works?

I have 1.0.0.9 and have downloaded the left out campaigns from the user files section but it seems that whatever campaign I fly in all I get is a freeze up,eg: sounds there, but have to use task manager to end task which takes me to the briefing screen.I swear I haven't got through one single mission without this, which can happen 5 mins or 20 mins (doesn't seem to matter)into whatever mission I am flying in.

This is obviously THE,or if not,ONE of the best sims on the market and I can put up with the small flaws here and there but TBH this is killing me.

Most of the user submitted missions work OK but I would really like to play a campaign,I don't think this is asking too much of this sim.

I hope somebody can help me please,thank-you.

Appreciate all the help, Mick.
