jocko417 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Really, seriously, how can you people afford this??? Mower, read your own computer specs in your sig. How could you afford that? I've been using my Cougar for almost ten years and in that time I've spent ten Cougars worth on upgrading vid cards, memory, CPUs, OSes, HDDs, MBs, etc. A well made stick and throttle is the CHEAPEST investment you will make in your computer sim career because it won't be obsolete after three years.
LawnDart Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I guess its because I never considered the Cougar to be a bad product. I still feel that it is an excellent product that is imperfect. If it had been refined a bit more it would have been perfect. The after market products are the tweaks that make it a perfect stick that will last 10 years. You wont see that in a plastic joystick. I've worn the paint completely off my Cougar FLCS and even shaved off a fair amount of metal on the handle itself by sheer number of hours put on the stick. If there was one thing I'd wish could be done affordably (!) it would be to produce the HW in the same military grade material as the real stick (i.e. plastic and not metal - but certainly not the cheap plastic type most commercial joysticks are made of). Metal is fine for the most part and better than the alternative for sure, but... I always chuckle a little when I hear people say: Nothing beats the feel of metal against your hands. Foremost because it's a sim-ism, and secondly, because most jocks would also use flight gloves! [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |

jocko417 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Hi JEFX, I talked to this outfit: http://www.extremegamingdevices.com/jsp/index.jsp and they are planning to sell the TM WH within Canada. Why don't you send them an email asking about it, the more interest generated the more they might stock. :)

PoleCat Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Provantage is now also accepting pre-orders at an even lower price with no estimated release date posted as of yet. Cowboy10uk Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I cant wait til it goes on sale, finally a joystick that is plug and pray with lockon/dcs, instead of sitting at your pc for about a month making and tweaking a profile, only to do the same thing over and over again each and everytime you format your pc. It takes me roughly 1-2 months to make a complete profile and to remember where all the keys are, as I first off make a preliminary one, then I game with it and then start tweaking it over the space of those 2 months, I then finally have a working profile that I love, only for something to happen that makes me format my pc. Well Said, I loved my Couger, but Damn was it a bitch to program, I managed to get a few profiles of the web, and tried doing a few, Needless to say they all went wrong. If it wasn't for the fact I needed to have a degree in programming to use the Couger, I would still have it on my desk now, instead of sat in my atic, gaining dust. Love the quality and build, of the stick. Now it sounds like TM have listened to use, upgraded the profiling software, AND made it plug and play with DCS, Well IM sold. All the benifits of a Couger with NONE of the hassle of programming. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
Callsign.Vega Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 The TM Cougar programming software, while had tons of functionality, was quite archaic. I am glad they have updated the software to modern standards with the Warthog. GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM.
