It seems that way.:music_whistling:

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Wonder if he quit. His last post suggested he was going back to XBOX360 games.

No big loss, IMO. If he were to carry on that way, that is.

The light rack looks misaligned. Is that what's spinning to make the "lift?":megalol:

Glad you're taking it in stride.

I hope it works for you :)

you are a good bunch and I appreciate your posts

I'll try it on my friends i7 rig before I bin it

take care

Joking aside, hope everything works out and you decide to dedicate more time to actually learning this sim. :)

DCS:BS is maybe not the most FPS-efficient simulator, but it is very complex. It's running the hell out of your CPU trying to compute flight dynamics, systems, AI, etc, at the same time as working on some graphical elements.

Given, ED could stand to offload more graphical tasks to the GPU (think, scenery objects! They're a huge CPU killer,) and put more work into multi-core operations, but their target market generally has fairly strong computers built just for simulation. Apparently, your arcade-tastes just don't fit that target market, ChromeWasp.

I love Condor... I used to fly sailplanes fairly frequently and used Condor in my training. It has excellent stability simulation and really "feels" like a glider. On the same note, DCS:BS has even better stability simulation, compounded with airflow simulation, rotor physics, and realistic systems. The reason why Condor runs more smoothly is because Condor is... simpler. It's not really that old or anything like that, it's just doing much less. All it has to calculate is a terrain mesh, some trees, and simple physics for a simple airplane - even without an engine. I love FPS-efficient programming probably as much or more than you do, but I have a better understanding and appreciation for what DCS:BS is doing... and even then I probably have no idea of its true complexity.

If you aren't patient enough to work with Black Shark and learn to fly it properly, you'll never make it to the weapons systems, and its time to go back to GTA4... study simulators are not for you! That's why it's a small market... they just aren't for everyone.

Oddly enough, I find it MORE difficult to fly "simpler" arcade choppers in games like Battlefield BC2. :joystick:

I so badly want this sim to work properly

I set it up at 1024 single full screen

and I get avg 25 fps

and I run a whole set of tests on autohover etc.

and I believe it is just buggy

sometimes it works perfectly - other times not

sometimes you are floating away from the hover point with the smallest hud velocity vector you ever saw and ... it ... just ... keeps floating away

other times you can knock it off center and it pulls right back

sometimes you activate it at 30 kph and it pulls right back to the point

other times you activate at 0 kph and never makes it

turn to target - sometimes just does nothing

what I am finding is that if I just waggle the controls or fly somewhere else

it starts to work again

it isn't a trimmed-to-the-edge-of-20-percent issue as I can see the trim point in the red box - and it is fine

i tried switching to game flight mode but copy the control profiles from real and see if that works but now turn to target is unservicable

something isn't right - if you say these forums are full of people complaining about these problems ... that backs up what I am saying

Posted

People aren't usually "complaining" about it... they're asking, because they admit the possibility that it's their problem and not the simulator's.

I'm a total BS noob, but IIRC it could have something to do with leaving on the Flight Director?

Yeah - they complain until they're told/shown that they're doing it wrong.......there's the difference ;)

Read the manual, understand the manual, read the manual again and put in the hours........you'll get there.

Post your system specs fgs. Cause if it is lower than minimum required then do you really think it will work.

/me bets the devs are all loving this thread.

No its not, you are just buggy, you need to learn how the systems work.

turn to target - sometimes just does nothing

Then your doing something wrong.

Yep, something isn't right: you. Learn the systems before you start taking them down here after you have turned off simple gamemode for one/two day(s)!! Dude! What are you thinking? It's a study sim! This isn't GTASA with forward/back/left/right/higher/lower/shoot options!? Again, what are you thinking?

That's enough peeps. He's trying to get this thing to work; no need to lambast him over and over. He's well on the way of learning the Ka-50.

You must be running on either a very old, or a very ill-maintained system. I'm playing on a rig I bought over 4 years ago:

Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.2GhZ

4GB DDR800

Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb

Windows 7 64bit

I play with most settings on high (shadows - all planar, water - normal, view distance - medium), 1680x1050 resolution, and I generally get 40-60FPS. In very densely populated missions, especially in urban areas, my FPS will sometimes dip into the low 20's.

and I run a whole set of tests on autohover etc.

and I believe it is just buggy

I strongly believe that you're wrong. I've been spending about 5-15hrs a week on this sim for the past 2 months (and have been playing it on and off since it's English release in '08 ), and there has not been a single moment were I've found the autohover to be working incorrectly. Ask anyone else with some experience in this game, and I bet you they'll corroborate my experience.

Post some another track showing any one of these issues, and I guarantee that we will find the cause to be pilot error. After all, in your last track you were seen to be manipulating the throttle in flight, rather than the collective. Frankly that's a very novice mistake, and it's unlikely that in such a short time you could've gotten from that point to the sufficient mastery of the AP system that is necessary to discover bugs in its implementation.

something isn't right - if you say these forums are full of people complaining about these problems ... that backs up what I am saying

You misinterpreted that poster's meaning. These forums are indeed full of people asking (not complaining) about difficulties and perceived problems in the sim, and in the vast majority of cases the issue is ultimately found to be pilot error, rather than bugs the sim.

In my perspective he's not "really" trying to learn.. I had my frustrations too, as all the others here, but hang through for a couple of weeks, and your there, but this is just trolling and flaming at the sim because he expects to be able to master it in a day or two..

This is my perspective...
