159th_Falcon Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 What about engines? With that damages turbines should explode Why? Can you see any damage done to the turbines? If the turbine would explode would you see it on the outside of the engine casing? Wouldn't there be some kind of a protective barrier between the Turbine and the rest of the aircraft, so that in the event of an explosion of the turbine the shrapnel would not cut trough hydraulic lines in for example the tail boom? etc etc etc. (i know that for example an Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 has an steel band around the Power Turbine to prevent external damages in case of an turbine explosion, i wouldn't be surprised if the A10C has something similar.):smartass::smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)

sage0030 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 One of ED's internal 3D modelers has posted a few unofficial screenshots of damage effects implemented on the A-10C 3D model for DCS Warthog. The model includes specular and bump mapping. Original Russian thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=56771 looks kinda scripted to consistant,

EtherealN Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I have a screenshot of EtherealN landing with half a wing ... probably a half of other things too ;) That was definitely one of the most rewarding landings I have ever made. Though I'm fairly certain that if I lost half a wing IRL I would just bail. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
GGTharos Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 ... Unless you were in an F-15, then you wouldn't notice but you'd wonder why you have to land so fast :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

zaelu Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Did my teaser trailer go unnoticed or...? :P You should be aware that you see more from your trailers than we see... Basically we see some text and few quick pics on music ;) Was there some hint for DCS A10c graphics? diveplane Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 it needs some blood stain inside the cockpit and canopy glass, when pilot gets hit... apart from that looks good. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Witchking Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Looks great.....I love the falling apart of pieces....please impliment that for ground targets as well. Also...that fire....still looks bland and boring. Without being too much "trolling around"...I just posted this in another area of the forum. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/playstation-3-ace-combat/702678 Please ED....look at the explosions, smoke... fire color...the special effects...the random debris and shrapnel released during an explosion. Especially for ground pounding with a hog where vehicles can explode with metal falling apart...it can truly help the immersion and satisfaction factor. I love this building shot...int he video you can see it break apart. ED have listened to the requests for infantry addition, but they still haven't worked on the boring explosions and fire effects since the original lock on. It would be great if they can fix them up a bit with some inspiration from arcade sims. ;) cheers, AV WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
element1108 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) I like to think of it like this. My personal satisfaction comes from reading and understanding the briefing, starting up my bird on the ramp, taxi to takeoff and takeoff. Navigate myself however long it takes to get to the target area, find the targets and begin my attack runs. The explosions I induce over my enemy will usually be at standoff range, so all the fire and debris really won't be witnessed all to clearly anyhow. Once mission objectives are complete I will RTB, land and taxi to parking. That gives ME the ultimate immersion and satisfaction. If Ace combat had bland explosions, it would be a VERY shallow/boring game since it really doesn't require any skill at all to get a kill. ED seem to be making very good progress with their second installment in the series. New map, interactive training, radio chatter to name but a few. PS: Everything you see inside that A-10C model there has working, simulated virtual parts that are living and breathing in the sim, not the case with Ace Combat. Edited August 11, 2010 by element1108
