CTR Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Dear Moderators, would you mind to split this thread in 2 -> "other game engines" and "outerra news (no discussion)". I guess 80% of the post here are outerra related and other game engines get somewhat lost here. Other games this section have only 2 pages, so i think outerra should have its own too. No, I think we only need one thread for other game engines, I would guess these engines have their own discussion areas if you really wanted to get into discussing them. CTR Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 No, I think we only need one thread for other game engines, I would guess these engines have their own discussion areas if you really wanted to get into discussing them. Thats true, thats also true for other games and there engines like "Ace Combat 7", " Seven-G; F/A-18c Simulator" and many others that have there dedicated thread here. OT is both a game and the name of the engine, so what would happen if someone creates a new thread for e.g "TitanIM" that is based on this engine? Are you going to delete it? No, but I can delete this one if you like... like those ones, these threads should be no discussion at all. I would be happy to delete this one, its of no real purpose here. Just let me know. Farlander Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I support the idea of a news thread for Outerra: Anteworld. News: Uriah has decided it was time to get missiles implemented (With affects on the flightmodel of the aircraft. Weight and drag) [ame] [/ame]

archer86 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I dream of that day DCS to have those kind of clouds! +1 clouds, detailed cloud shadows and terrain elevation! I beleive we'll see those on DCS World one day:thumbup:
Steph Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Yes, i think too .. it's in the air of time ..unigine 2.4 , ace combat 7 ... so, why not ED DCS world ... ;)
jackmckay Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) Procedural terrain in DCS? Is there any effort regarding ED team to advance terrain generation and mapping as in example: http://www.outerra.com/procedural/demo.html. Other sims are already implementing this feature in game engines. Another question: Is there any way to vary tree height according to base elevation. Could there be some way to add forestation layer random height bias? Edited December 23, 2016 by jackmckay
Silver_Dragon Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 The outerra post is here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=57607&page=25&highlight=outterra The EDGE procedural terrain are actually unknowns, ED plans whole world on a far future. EDGE add advanced clip-mapping on 2.0 and expected add Physical Base Rendering, HDR and deference lights to 2.5. sobek Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Is there any effort regarding ED team to advance terrain generation and mapping as in example: http://www.outerra.com/procedural/demo.html. IIRC yes, they are working towards using procedural techniques to increase terrain fidelity. Another question: Is there any way to vary tree height according to base elevation. Could there be some way to add forestation layer random height bias? In DCS? Probably not at this point but i don't see why it shouldn't be possible in principle. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
DirkLarien Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Well yes i know i am biased, but i would recommend Inovae engine. Its wondrous what it can do on planetary/interplanetary level absolutelly seamlessly. Got access to it...and phew its something really. Lightning livery for M2000
