Deadman Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Your welcome Two different types of gray hill encoders is not really surprising the AN/ARC 164 is the same way https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
agrasyuk Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) now thinking about it since the last "digit" is increment of .25 and he first is also goes up to "3" it actually does make sense to have 4 position only switches there DM, could you explain a bit how you read model numbers against data sheets? here is the grayhill product sheet for the 26seires encoders: http://www.grayhill.com/assets/1/7/Mech_Encoder_26.pdf , it looks like the part numbers you provided are of different nomenclature (Military specific?) how do you match? Deadman Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Sorting through all of the Gray hill stuff just takes time and you need to read every thing. You just selected the wrong type of mechanical encoder you want the series 26 Pull to turn. The easiest way to find the correct unit is to call them and give them the old numbers and see if they have changed. If they have they will get you the new part number that is an equivalent to the original. these cost any ware form $40 to $90 each new though. But you may find some thing in the after market or surplus sites. http://www.grayhill.com/assets/1/7/26SeriesIsoPos.pdf https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
agrasyuk Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 goodness, there i was happy that i found something close and they have versions on top of series lol  quick ebay search got me to this lot. not a pull to turn and a continous rotation variant, but at almost doable price. these seem to operate entirely different then the cheapo 3 lead quadrature encoders. not yet sure what kind is better for the software to drive my fantasy device , but thanks for pointing to these. Deadman Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 What are you going to use the 210 for ?with it not being modeled in the A-10C suite 3? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Deadman Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Some one asked me awhile ago about the AN/ARS-6 control panel in the A-10C it is not included in DCS. but hey I stumbled across a blog on the control head. It may be of intrrest to some oneI have not found a good picture of the up front display though. http://bg4fow.blog.163.com/blog/static/131568008201051911233/ https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) I found out a friend was having a hard time with his Oxygen Regulator Panel. Converting it from a real panel to something usable in the Simulator cockpit. So I thought ya it has been a wile and 3 hour well that's not to long. Well I have 6 hours in to it I am working off of a Simulator panel and still not done with adding a working Flow blinker and the Oxygen PSI indicator. Here is a preview. Guy seriously any one that does the entire cockpit and all of the panel will need to be Talented patient and generious doing this kind of work for possibly 20 other replica cockpit builders well lets just say volume will not lower any prices in the A-10C cockpit building circle. Gadroc Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Very nice work there. What font are you using for the text? I have an updated MS33558 where I've added a few missing symbols (punctuation, parenthesis, etc...) and cleaned up the spacing and hinting.
Deadman Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 It is a commercial version of MS 33558 https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Ghostraider Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Did everyone have the original dimensons from the a10-c cockpit/consol/Panels i would like to make an ACAD drawing about this, maybe in mm for the European Rebuilder Edited February 10, 2015 by Ghostraider [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]www.49th.de
Deadman Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Gostradier I think I am the only person with a trainer that is drawing and converting the cockpit for home builders. I am a bit confused why you would need to take my work and change it to mm.That will be worked out with the EU members of the build groups. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Snoopy Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Very good chance that when I get back from my deployment next year I'll be building an A-10C pit. Keep up the good work Deadman! v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
Deadman Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Hey that sound great the kinks should be worked out by then. The plans will come out something like this. Cockpit with Main instrument panel. Then the left and right counsels. Then the control panels It has been a huge undertaking but it is coming together now. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
MacFevre Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Very very nice. Can't wait. You have really put a lot of work into this. It will be worth every cent. BHawthorne Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'd be interested in doing a build using the plans. Any idea if Flim's VRpit kit will work ok with this? I have one of the kits sitting in my shop.
Deadman Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Hey BHawthorne I am not sure what the measurements on his seat are. The outside dimension on the real seat the front should be 20 inches the back 14 3/4 not including the rollers. The rails are 15 inches apart at the closest edge. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Hansolo Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Bloody good work DM. Cant wait to buy the plan  Then I will have to re-build the pit :music_whistling: Looking forward to see more. Ghostraider Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 OK DM why will you do the hard work allone ? When youre wife say ready for pre contact you spend too much time for your Hobby ( joke) Not every Person have the knowledge or the ability to make drawings or electronic or what you ever need for cockpitbuilding. Thats the reason to talk about here in this forum and find everybody who can help. The second reason ist to save money when you can create these part for yourself. Or you have the money then buy the parts by Jetpilot or others. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]www.49th.de
