Pretty amazing machine for $1300. Love the dual hot swap bays. Not sure how well the turbo boost works but overclocking is usually much trickier on manufactured PCs. Resolution is the determining factor for fps performance. That system is the same as GA so yes it should do great.

Currently running all games on max settings with highest resolutions as possible with little lag in high-stress areas. Got mine at Frys electronics $200 dollars off. When I was transferring my hard drive, I never figured out how to use the hard drive slot and several other features.

Actually GA doesn't look like he needs some "security" to protect him from unwanted questions, does he?!

Plain normal, that people want to know if they need to put some money aside to enjoy the A-10. So let them ask and just don't answer if you don't want to.

Why dont you guys build a machine. It's fun and cost effective.

Lol i build all my machines since 1995.

Toda i find building a machine a pain, but its so cost effective i wouldn t be able to upgrade otherwise.

And don't forget (I've fried a motherboard this way):

"Walking across a floor dragging your feet will create friction, which charges us with energy. Once you stop moving, the soles of your shoes insulate you, but you're still carrying around a different voltage potential than your environment. Everyone's felt the sudden shock from a static spark, which is particularly common with plastic floors and thick, rubber-soled shoes. This electromagnetic phenomenon can have dangerous consequences for electronic components. Although the current from a static discharge isn't very high, the voltage difference may briefly peak at tens of thousands of volts. That much voltage can easily destroy sensitive components such as memory chips.

The most important thing to do before getting down to work is to ground yourself. Ideally, you'll have an antistatic armband, as used in industry. But unless you're a real electronics whiz, you're unlikely to have one. So, try this instead: before you come into contact any of your PC's components, simply touch something metal (a radiator, the protective contact on a plug or the PC case). This will ground you properly."

Oh I really hope you're right. It's what I plan to do in a few months' time.

Im still using a core 2 extreme machine. I intend to hold off on upgrades till this time next year when the Sandy Bridge enthusiast chip comes out.

"Next is Sandy Bridge 'E' (Enthusiast or Extreme, take your pick) 'Patsburg' platform, which features a huge new LGA2011 socket to replace LGA1366 in Q3 next year (although right now that seems dubiously convenient given the year of launch). The larger socket is to accommodate the new four channel DDR3 memory controller this platform will offer, as well as the first outing for PCI Express 3 - of which we'll get 32 lanes bolted into the CPU itself. The lanes can be split between 2x16 and 4x8 for multi-GPU, but again, there's no details about CrossFire or SLI support at this early stage."

My guess is it's still drawn under the land. I heard a while back that it was actually better that way than having to compute all the coastlines, making it run faster. Weird...

So with those kind of water graphics, is water still computed as being present even on dry land like in BS or did ED fix that?

What is so hard to understand?

DX9 doesn't mean 10 or 11 it means 9!!! 9c to be precise...

How many further pages in this thread will it need to get this into everybodys heads??

Hopefully there will be a setting in game to dumb down the water with directx 9c

As long as the engine isn’t actively rendering waves, splashes and reflections under the ground terrain then it doesn’t matter, it’s just a big polygon which is clipped out before it hits the screen buffer.

And as GA said, you can turn it down as with a lot of things.

I am having a vision of the future………its coming………i can’t hold it in…..

DCS: A-10 will use DX9. That’s 2 below an 11 and one below a 10. 8 more than 1 and sounds like a German “no”.

The graphics will be configurable. There will be options.

Some will moan about the graphics being too intense and making their computers run slow.

They will be advised to TURN SOME SETTINGS DOWN.

Some will complain about the graphics being too basic and not making use of their mega-sli-hex-core PC’s.

They will be advised to PUSH ALL THE SLIDERS TO THE RIGHT.

Some will bemoan the DirectX version and the loss of features that they don’t understand. It’s a lower number and therefore must be bad.

When the next DCS module ships with DX11 many will moan that they are not prepared to upgrade their gfx card and how outrageous everything is.

When the next DCS module ships with DX11 many will moan that it doesnt support DX13 or whatever version comes with windows 8.

When the next next DCS module comes out with support for DX13 many will moan that they are not prepared to upgrade their gfx card and how outrageous everything is.

Again.

Cant go with 11 out of the box. Nothing to "improve" in the next release. Look how well apple uses this technique.
