some action last night. I freaking hate that strela in the quickstart mission. ALways nails me. I don't even spot him on the little radar thingy in the A-10. ANy tips?

That's because it's a heat seeker. ;) My suggestion: stay high so the missiles lose energy and likely miss and either

A) Sick your wingman on him

B) Save a maverick for him and scan, scan, scan until you find him. He should be pretty easy to see on the TVM, as IIRC, he's in a decently open field.

 

Still, spotting is really freakin' hard.

yeah! I used to play FC1 mainly with labels. But now...FC2...I started playing with labels off. A lot more uncertainity...more awareness and depndence on marked targets etc. Still...soo much fun to play this sim maxed out at 1080p. lol! :D

The various versions of Strela ("Arrow" in Russian, IIRC) are infra-red seeking missiles. You won't get a radar warning on your TWS display since they don't use radar. You need to keep an excellent visual watch - don't fixate on your instruments or one target. This is very hard to do, of course.

If you can: never go alone ;) A wingman will warn you of launches better. Mutual support is the best way to spot and avoid incoming IR missiles
