159th_Viper Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 As per previous discussions, post your first track for posterity :) In order to inject a wee bit of fun in an otherwise serious endeavour, utilize the custom mission attached. Granted, the Hog's a wee bit bloated, but makes for an interesting flight. Let's have those tracks/clips! Your Mission - should you choose to accept it, is to Spool her up, taxi to active and take-off. Climb to Angels 2, circuit the AB and bring her back for a VFR landing. Watch the landing gear and Good Luck! (Moved from Closed thread in Open-Beta Forum) 1 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Bucic Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 What about the the more specific rules about not reading anything and default axis setup (no curves)? Also I hope you're going to wait few months for me... 159th_Viper Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Of course we'll wait - no rush :) Up to individuals concerned as to how you wish to approach the challenge lest we overthink the issue and dilute the 'fun-factor'. I would advise that you watch the Start-Up Note and leave axis at default, though again not set in stone. Enjoy :D Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Geskes Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Sure is heavy! This is my try. A bit bloathed... LOL Had some trouble with the trim but overall I am satisfied :) At least kept the bird in one piece. I7920/12GBDDR3/ASUS P6T DELUXE V2/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G /WIN 10 Ultimate/TM HOTAS WARTHOG

BlueRidgeDx Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) It wasn't my very first flight like the challenge originally envisioned, but close enough. My pattern isn't very 'tactical', given the high gross weight in the mission, so there's no overhead break, and no rolling off the perch. Yes, I left the APU running; no, I didn't forget. ;) Edit: Removed the track, and will try the "YouTube thing" instead. Edit2: Yeah, that takes a really long time, so here's the track (again), instead...Challenge.trk Edited October 6, 2010 by BlueRidgeDx "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. joey45 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I take it that Angels 2 is 2000ft? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. 26-J39 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Here's my trk, sorry can't youtube as my DL limit is bust thanks to ED.. :P This is my 3rd flight, in the first two i stall after take off and crash.. I was also ramping from memory of the producers notes so who knows what I was doing.. lol Edit: Joey I believe that is correct.First Flight Loaded.trk
quyes Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Doh, I forgot to save the track!! A bit bloated?!?! I was really sweating the takeoff run. Think I cleared the end of the runway at 10' AGL. Put it back on the deck with no major problems. My HUD had no Speed/Alt listings, going to have to figure out what I missed, so I was using the secondary gauges the whole time. As a result I turned nose wheel back on at 150 instead of 50 and ended up blowing the front tire and sending sparks everywhere on the landing roll.
Thunderbird Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 didnt record my track, however spooled up take off & landing was smooth, i just need to adjust the curve becoz its a bit too sensitive, the only thing is i can read the words clearly in the HUD
power5 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Going to bed tonight. Finally got some things figured out in the cockpit and decided to have a go at this challenge. Note, this is my second flight. I had one before the challenge thread was started. But my controls were all wonky so you can see what happened. Tired to hit the brakes before running off the end of the runway. Wingie crashed into me. Will try the record avi tool tomorrow to turn these into youtube. I will try to add some cool music too. :P I cheated a bit and dumped my stores soon after take off. Wow the bird was heavy. I had full flaps to lift off. Not sure why the jdam did not jettison though.1st attempt.trkTO_land Challenge.trk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109

leafer Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) What's with main gear tearing off, I think, at around 160mph? I'd accept your challenge as soon as my Suncom's arrived and properly modified. Right now it's just too damned hard to fly in a straight line let alone land with keyboard. power5 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 So no one else has a nose wheel slightly turned to the left when they disengage NWS? I am able to take off and land using the NWS. I have only made one landing so far, but thinking back, I do not think the NW was angled left when I landed. I engaged NWS as soon as I could though. Will have to make a few more landing and take off attempts. I will also make a short trk from the ramp to show the wheel turn when NWS is disengaged. This should have nothing to do with my joystick calibration since the NW is disengaged. Stretch Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Here's my first attempt. Part 1: Part 2: The only problems with this attempt, that I see, are: - Airspeed got really low during the base-to-final turn (I know, cause of many deaths in real life) - Forgot to lower flaps before takeoff and raise them after W.O.W. - Forgot to engage NWS before taxi (fixed that problem real quick) - Still working out the finer points of the parking brake 1 Tim "Stretch" Morgan 72nd VFW, 617th VFS Other handles: Strikeout (72nd VFW, 15th MEU Realism Unit), RISCfuture (BMS forums) PC and Peripherals: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/RISCfuture/saved/#view=DMp6XL Win10 x64 — BMS — DCS — P3D

Ells228 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Here's two attempts, both off ok and landed without any damage recorded on warning panels. First one I took some paint off of the tail and a few sparks came off but it felt good in the pit and no visible damage according to the crew chief who chewed my ear off for hours about a crappy landing. Second one, well lets's just say I have no idea how the gear didn't break as it felt hard when I came down (and I mean felt hard in the sense that I could actually feel it in my seat, that's how much this sim fools my brain). I'll have another go tomorrow because I like challenges like this, thanks. Got any more?
