StrongHarm Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) Absolute agreeing with you. I spend several hours to figure the DWS/TWS/Coolyhead possibilities and assigned all these functions to my Stick (X-52pro). That works now pretty well, and I am glad as a little child what´s possible. The only thing what interesst me is, as I customized the Key settings, will they be the same after an update, or will they get restored back to default? I created a persdef(personal defaults) folder in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\Input. You can then go into the controls page and select 'Save Profile As' and save each profile to the folder. IMPORTANT: If you have a value in the keyboard column selected, it will save your keyboard profile, if you have a value in the joystick column selected it will save your joystick profile. I got everything looking sweet, then saved a profile for each control device. I then zipped the folder and put it on my backup drive. This however, may be a losing battle if they change any of the controls or parameters in the control lua files. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you want to go back to defaults.. just go to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\Input\(devicename) and move any files out that are listed as being modified at a later date. You'll see 5 files from 9/10/10 and 2 files from 10/20/10 for instance. Move the 2 later dated files out. When you restart DCS you'll find everything back to defaults. Edited October 20, 2010 by StrongHarm It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
hassata Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Bad idea to re-apply any tweaked files-you might loose some of the beta fixes. You should keep a careful record of anything tweaked as well as save the original files. Revert to stock before applying any beta update. Run for a while to catch and report any bugs. If all seems ok, then manually add your tweaks as necessary. At least that's what I plan to do. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

When I said LUA files I was referring to the control profiles, though as I said you will want to re-apply controller profiles with care, as unseen parameters may have changed. coolts Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Still haven't done the following: 1. Haven't done a single mission 2. Haven't done any training mission besides the maverick one 3. Haven't done any campaign stuff 4. Haven't messed with the editor except to try to land on a carrier :) 5. Only tried on instant action scenario so far (most of my "training time") 6. Haven't dabbled into the advanced avionics, CMS, and all that other more detailed stuff I can't even think of Sorry to rewind a little but I just caught this thread. Carrier? With no arrestor? HiJack Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 18 days and 3 hours since first install. Any hope for an update early next week?

mikoyan Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I seriously doubt that in 18 days you can finish exploring the sim; led the people work on the sim! Unrelated stuff for people with Mac computers: I was able to run a-10 on a macbook 13' pro running boot camp and runs great on vista32bits; my machine is the current model (still below recommended specs) I was able to run it on medium specs with good frame rates. The bad part... apple didn't provide us with good drivers for the audio.
WarriorX Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Yeah, I bet E.D. wish they had never put a time frame on the beta patches....it just gives fodder to the toe tappers. I for one am only concerned with the quality of the patches, not the frequency of there release. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?" Crash_Fistfight Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Yup I was hoping for some news today but "approximately" was the operative word used to describe the scheduling. Obviously ED want Beta 2 to be step up from Beta 1 and not just an incremental update with known bugs being reposted all over the Beta board.

Yes clearly they fokus on finishing for a release within the year as well and that is only 9 weeks away if they would like to hit the christmas week :noexpression:
MemphisBelle Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 My thinking about this is that they just need some more time to figure the updater thing. May be the first period until the game will recieve it´s first Betaupdate might take a unknown period of time, but so far the updater works properly so updating process should go on as announced...thats only a guess. HiJack Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Any bets on how long it will take for a "When's the Next Module Coming Out" thread to appear after A10C release? Well; they said every other week but with a stable testers release  The testers get updates on a dayly bases...

Panzertard Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 The updates will arrive when ED sees fit. The 2 weeks was just an estimate. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
159th_Falcon Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 My 2 cents. An update somewhere just before xmas would be nice. Then ED Team could take an holiday till somewhere in January, They have been working hard for us and deserve a break, we already have a very nice simulator in our hands whit lots of stuff to learn and do. Should keep everyone busy for a good while. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
