kylania Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Thats all we need is a default key list that will give us a base. Made this last night: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62548 It's nothing that isn't in the Options/Controls pages, but it's visually laid out so you can wrap your head around it better. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

Sticky Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Hello there. So, I've been reading the manual, doing the training exercises, viewing the videos, etc. What I have found is that all of these are, in a word, unhelpful. We need a beginners guide to the sim, period. For example, everything regarding launching maverick missiles references this magical "TMS forward". That is great...after 5 hours of searching I've found that this is a special piece of hardware not listed under the games hardware requirements. I don't want to put the money into another joystick. I have several I use for X-plane 9. In addition, there is zero reference to TMS forward in the controls setup for DCS A-10C. My question is, how in the friggin' world do you launch a damned maverick missile WITHOUT the special A-10 hardware? Please don't point me to another youtube video or PDF, I've viewed them all, seriously. I dont believe you, I cant believe that someone who owns " a saitek throttle quadrant (three levers plus 3 rocker switchers), and a CH products flightstick pro with 3 buttons, trigger, and a hat. I have saitek rudder pedals as well." didnt understand that you can put "TMS forward" as anything you wanted. And since I dont believe you didnt realise that then your post was a clear case of trolling IMO. Five hours to get what TMS forward is? Please.... I dont believe you! Sticky Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) If it takes you five hours to make the connection that TMS forward could be the same as TMS up, then IMO this sim is not for you.. Especially since the three other TMS options make far less sense than up. The first thing I did when I wondered about TMS forward was to check in the options and then controls. Everything is there, just like it is with all the other sims you have flown with your saitek throttle quadrant, your CH flightstick and your rudder pedals. And it took me 0.05 second to think that maybe TMS forward is the same as TMS up, not five hours... Edited November 29, 2010 by Sticky 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. SFJackBauer Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 3) My English should suggest the United States First, given the English language first appeared on England and is also the primary language of 35 countries and territories around the world, its not terribly obvious that you are from U.S. just because you speak it. Second, look at my written english and take a guess of where I'm coming from. If you think its from any english-speaking country, you will be very mistaken. 3

majapahit Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I have a saitek throttle quadrant (three levers plus 3 rocker switchers), and a CH products flightstick pro with 3 buttons, trigger, and a hat. edit: not that it matters much for this discussion, but I have saitek rudder pedals as well. Get a 2nd Joystick! then you have 2 HAT's I use joystick 1 HAT as TMS (so no more view-around, use keypad keys now for that) I use 1 modifier for that #1 HAT for DMS I use #2 joystick (yoke, really) HAT as SLEW (TGP/TAD/MAV etc) .. works smoothly I have contemplated to add another Joystick .. .. but I can just manage with 2 modifier keys to fly/aim/trigger nicely (err .. of course I have a button thing, and a G12 keyboard also, and all and every button defined) you can add as many cheapo joysticks you can find in any garage sale .. beats having to perform like concerto pianist (its still complictaed .. but even a Thrustmaster wont solve that) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |

Namco51 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) It's simple. In the eternal aft vs. forward debate, it all depends or relative orientation to the pilot. So if the control stick is deflected forward fully, you're looking down on the TMS hat and the plane on which it is mounted is now oriented horizontally to the pilot at which point the controls are now TMS forward, aft, left, and right. When the control stick is deflected back fully, the TMS hat is nearly vertical at which point the TMS controls are now up, down, X minus, and X plus. Finally, when the stick is in the neutral position the controls are north, dive, starboard, and green, of course. :joystick: Edited July 19, 2011 by Namco51
