Beta 4 is Available

I installed the Beta 4 patch over Beta 3 and have CTD'd about 10 times today. Can't access the beta forums to report anything there, so waiting for Beta 5. Hopefully it'll be before the New Year as mentioned....

I swear that red bar with the "request beta forum access" wasn't there before. I spent a good 20 minutes the other day logging in/out, checking the purchase email link, reading these forums (especially the 'accessing beta forums' sticky, etc... well, it's sorted out now.

As Groove said. You also might want to install the Beta 4 base version as opposed to the patch and see if that helps.

So I guess I´ll wait for the next beta/final release. Sorry for those guys who have troubles now. But besides reported issues. Does the patch nevertheless improve the game a little? (Btw.I already downloaded beta 4 full version)

Well, since I've received the HOTAS Warthog and Beta4 no CTD's what-so-ever ... been real smooth and it's been a great Joy!

Wow, the FLIR is way better now! However the cannon still seems anemic, I still can't kill the T-55s with it in the first instant action mission, even when opening fire at 1.5M and pushing to 1M, then breaking off, and I am having the stutter issue others have reported when the rounds hit the ground. The cannon kills the ZSUs and BMPs easily enough though.

 

It's also still infuriatingly hard to kill those two infantrymen at waypoint 2 away from the trucks.

Well, since I've received the HOTAS Warthog and Beta4 no CTD's what-so-ever ... been real smooth and it's been a great Joy!

 

My experience is this:

Such a big improvement over B3!! Fps, as mentioned many times, is significantly better, minus a couple of W'sIP. B3 was pretty much unplayable for me. CTD's nearly every mission. B4 is much more stable on my rig. I do still get CTD's every now and then, randomly. Crash log will say something about an ACCESS VIOLATION or something to that effect. But it only crashes on me, say 25% of the time now, instead of 90%. So we're trending in the right direction!!

btw, my TMWH showed up the same day as B4 as well, not to mention TIR 64 support. What a Christmas!!

I have install Beta4 today but i had a problem i cant run any mission.

everytime when i tried to run a mission and appear the a10 windows loading and after throw me to desktop and appear a error message , after some seconds this throw me back to the a10 main menu. This issue is happen to me with all missions since i have install beta4.

somebody know what could be or how could i fix this problem?.

I have a "%1 is not a valid Win32 application" problem in the x64 game.

I have the DX runtime, video card drivers and all system updates installed.

My system is Win7 enterprise x64. Video Card is NVIDIA GTX460.

The beta3 has the same problem, but the the error is on "edTerrain.dll"

 

Everything is ok in beta & beta2, as well as the x86 game.

Ok, is it worth it to download beta 4? Or should I wait for beta 5? It appears to me that beta 4 was released prematurely and there are still many bugs to it, although it is well optimized.

I think it's overall a significant and worthwhile improvement over beta 3, but with beta 5 out so soon I guess it depends on how much hassle it is for you to download it, re-install and re-configure it.

I haven't had to remap my joystick since beta 1... you must be doing something odd!

 

On the upside beta 4 is by FAR the best build yet after having a 2 hour flight last night online without a single FPS or CRASH problem, baring in mind this mission froze constantly before B4.

Backup your profiles somwhere outside of ED directory. they are in config/input/aircraft/a10c/

I ask because I do not want to bring my saved Keyboard lua from Beta 3 into Beta 4 if there were changes.

Is there an easy way to check that the patch has installed correctly as the GUI does not indicate correctly the beta version you are running?

Did you get a white screen for several minutes the first time you launched it?

 

If yes, it applied.

 

If not...no.

 

If that's not good enough...just wait a few days or so for B5.

Check the "Date Modified" of "DCS.exe" in "%Program Files%\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\bin\". Beta 4 has 23/12/2010. I did the full install, but I guess the date & time for the same executable of the Patch would be the same (or similar).

Hey all,

 

Just got back home for Christmas and saw Beta 4 is out! I've had the game uninstalled due to some annoying low fps issues - does the new patch do much for FPS? mine was fine all of the time except at a few airfields and a few fps hitches...Are there any significant improvements on this type of rig:

 

q6600 @ 2.6ghz, gtx 260 896mb of ram and 4gb ddr 2 ram @ 800mhz

It seems to be running at a higer fps for me. but it has some short freezes at times , something that i did not have with beta 3
